Amazon is Selling All Verizon Droids for a Penny
Credit cards at the ready, Fandroids!
If you've been holding off on getting a Droid because you think the prices may drop in time for Black Friday, you best got off your bum and take Amazon up on its latest offer. Why? Well, we doubt even the wildest of Black Friday sales could be lower than a penny.
That's right, guys, Amazon is selling all four Droids for a penny, with no activation fee. Of course you'll still have to sign a two-year contract with Verizon, but that's only to be expected with this kind of deal. You better get your Nikes on your bikes for this one, though; the offer is a limited-time only deal.
Hurry!

only cost you a penny.... and your soul for the next 2 years
Screw Verizon. Unlocked Droids for a penny please.
Awsome deal, especially for a smartphone like a Driod, but Amazon has been doing this for at least 5years when I got a phone with the same deal when Krzr and Razr where all the rage.
tried to buy a droid x using the link... it told me 49.99 ... not for a penny but 49.99. false advertizing ?
I just bought a droid x too... for 199.99$ and a two year plan. this is such BS!!!!!! Why didn't my verizon store tell me?!?!?!?! then they tell me oh you can't bring it back you have more than 30 minutes of talk time on the phone... SUCH BS!!!!!

Try again on Black Friday. I suspect that's what the prices are advertised for.
I will have one too, if I don't have to break my current contract with T-Mobile. sigh...
Well, on the other side, they'll have dual core Droids next year
One has to take the unlimited data plan with this (which is 30 USD), now thats 15 more than the minimum data plan (nice as many have wifi at work and home). So spending 15 dollars for 2 years, one would actually spend 360 dollars while buying directly from verizon one would pay 199 (for phone).
Minimum $60/mo.... that's hefty (for me).
It says "Starting at a Penny" which leads me to believe that the worthwhile phones will still cost.
The Droid 2 is listed at $79.99....
I just walked a co-worker through the checkout process, it was literally .01 total checkout for the Droid Incredible. Free 2nd day shipping, and they didn't charge sales tax on the retail value of the $600 phone. Though keep in mind he was eligible for the full upgrade.
But I think this is an awesome deal. If i didn't have a Nexus One already, I would prob go for it.

Man, why didn't Amazon personally come to your door and tell you? Maybe they could have discussed it with you and Jesus over tea! I think you should piss and moan on the internet about it.

No, if you are eligible for the upgrade, or if you sign up as a new line, it's only $.01 for all of the Droids, including the Droid 2. I can send you a screen shot if you'd like.
If you are opening a new account, or have an upgrade on an individual account, it's $0.01. If, however, you have a phone upgrade, but are on a family plan, the phone prices are as followed (checked within past 5 minutes):
HTC Incredible - $48.88
Motorola Droid X - $99.99
Motorola Droid II - $79.99
Only lame part is they don't offer the $15 plan. But i guess you could downgrade after you purchase.
Doubtful they'd let you downgrade after purchase. $15 x 24 months is about $360 dollars. You could spend $60 to get a Costco membership where you can get the phone for $100 and sign up for the $15 plan saving you $260 over 2 years.
Sorry, save $200 over 2 years, forgot to factor in the cost of the Costco membership.
only a few months, it is already down to pennies? I shouldn't have bought the phone and the 2 year plan so fast..
Just tried it. The monthly charge is steep. $59 for call and text plus $29 for a data plan. $88 a month for a 1 cent phone! :lol
the $30 unlimited data plan is mandatory for droids and most new smartphones with verizon
Only lame part is they don't offer the $15 plan. But i guess you could downgrade after you purchase.
Why the heck would you buy a Droid, and use that lame plan? At that point, you might as well get a dumbphone. They talk and text just as good, and even handle the occasional email just fine. They're cheap too - you can probably pick up a decent phone for a good price, without a 2-year contract!
If you want an internet capable //smartphone// for downloading apps, streaming media, internet, etc. - you're going to want the unlimited data plan anyway. Are data plans overpriced? Yes. Do they offer an unlimited plan at the same $30 that AT&T charges for 5GB? On most phones, yes.
Maybe because routers are cheap and there's free wifi at work, school, and home?
Realistically... The Penny phone, even on a 2 year contract isn't too bad considering the service you get with Verizon. Sure it's a contract, but these devices will last that long, just get the insurance plan and/or extended warranty if you are worried about anything going wrong with the devices. As for the $15 data plan... You are setting yourself up to go over. And going over on $15 data plans can be a pain in the neck. It goes as follows.. $29.99, unlimited data, no overage.. $15, 150 MB data, if you use 151 mb, bumped up to another $15, adds another 150 MB allowance, so on and so forth. The option is clear, might as well get the damn unlimited data and use the Droid the way it's meant to be used.

Wow you're a genius! Nobody ever thought of this before you! I think we should ditch 3G/4G altogether and only make calls/text/internet on our Cell Phones ONLY where we are in a situation where we could just use a ------- PC anyway! Brilliant!
Not to mention connecting to unsecure networks for fun and profit!
I use an iphone and I use it a lot. I use it to it's full potential I would say. I only get the 200 MB a month plan, and the most I've ever used is 120 MB. I usually don't even reach 100. I simply use wifi most of the time. So to the people that are saying you can't use a smartphone fully with only 150MB a month, that's definitely not true.
The funny thing I hear about people saying that Verizon sucks, is that it's actually the only choice around here that gets any 3G connection out here, so there's really no point in using a smaller network.
Man, why didn't Amazon personally come to your door and tell you? Maybe they could have discussed it with you and Jesus over tea! I think you should piss and moan on the internet about it.
I can confidently say that's the greatest response I've read all day. Congratulations.
Meh!
1 cent for a phone plus a 2yrs contract that after two yrs basically will cost you an arm and a leg for surcharges and what not?
Or
My HTC Touch Pro 2 with unlimited text, unlimited data, unlimited anytime calls, basically almost unlimited everything and no discount of any sort to boot for only $50 a month. This beats any deal out there. Though the Touch Pro 2 is a couple of years old, its still fast, customizeable, and better than some current Andriod phones. I basically use my phone to tether on my Laptop anywhere there is signal and download and do as much as I want - no issues. Plus no 2 yrs contract bs and charges etcs. Just $50 a month - FLAT FEE. And yes , its a no contract phone on Boost Mobile. Again, this beats any plan out there if you know what you are doing. And no, I do not work for Sprint or Boostmobile.
