DICE: PC Gamers Deserve Extra Goodies

DICE is paying homage to PC gamers with extra goodies in Bad Company 2.
Sometimes PC gamers don't feel loved, especially when once-dedicated-PC-developers give all the attention and glory to consoles (you know who you are). But PC gamers are loved, it's just not vocalized on a daily level. That's why it's always music to our ears when a developer steps out and sticks up for the PC gamer.
With that said, Battlefield developer DICE thinks that PC gamers deserve extra features because they put up with more "crap" than the spoiled console gamers. According to Maximum PC, DICE community manager “Zerk16” was asked why many Battlefield: Bad Company 2 features are "dodging consoles' draft and defecting to the PC." The reason is surprising.
“The PC platform is usually expected to put up with a lot more ‘crap’ compared to consoles," he replied. "While consoles may get the game on a certain date, PC users typically have to wait much longer for the same game, but in turn, they get the game for a lower price because there are no licensing fees like consoles have, and typically they get a few more perks thrown in compared to consoles just for good measure."
He also added that the PC version of Bad Company 2 is getting more features because DICE has ignored the PC user base for the past 3 to 4 years; the upcoming PC version pays homage to those gamers. "It’s a lot of things that PC users simply deserve," he said. "If you have played games on the PC for the last ten years you would know what I’m talking about, otherwise I won’t even try to explain.”
You go boy.

I might need to pick this game up, I wish IW would take a chapter from this guy's book...
Finally someone that now's that pc gamer deserve more.
IW should take notice of these guys. I am willing to bet most of the lost sales for MW2 will be coming there way.
Nice to no that someone think's pc gamers deserve more.
+1 to DICE... i knew there was a reason I keep upgrading
That is why they are making a point to note the pc gamers. Bad Company is the next big FPS coming out, and they will more than likely capitalize on Infinity Ward's mistakes.
I'll be picking this up if for no other reason than to support the development house
The game looks cool to boot... Kudos DICE for the nod to all us hardcore PC gamers!
If DICE puts good features into Bad Company 2, I'll buy their game just to spite IW.... Yeah, I know... my poor poor therapist.
DAMN STRAIGHT DICE!
I will always be a PC gamer tell the games are gone, i hate games that were once PC games now on the consoles, most of the time they are half assed, cost 10$ more, worse graphics, frame rate issues that cant be fixed and content reduced so they can use it as suposedly "DLC".. I hate the world consoles have created, i miss the days when consoles had there games and PCs had there games..
Yea Dice!!! And I am not really an FPSer!
haha whats that other game? you know the one they raised the price by ten dollars, and gave us nothing extra in return. They even decided that we would be better off without dedicated servers. Oh thats right Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The other difference being I'm actually going to buy this game. Nice move DICE.
Hmmm Maybe this will be the next BF2.I hope so.Ive been wanting some new BF action that didnt suck.
lol clearly they are working off of IW's mistake. Whatever the reason, who cares! They are right.
DICE is just milking the whole "no DS MW2" situation, and its working.
DICE > IW
I will not pirate this game.
see how that works.
DICE is just milking the whole "no DS MW2" situation, and its working. DICE > IW
Not only that but DICE is kicking them in the balls for charging $60 for a PC game when they don't have to. No $10 tax to the PC overloards yet MW2 is the same price as the consolve version.
Zerk16 clearly pointed that out.
Good for DICE. They have no interest in making money.
Good for DICE. They have no interest in making money.
Well they do, obviously, it's just that they care about their customers more than IW does.
Well it's nic eand noble for DICE to say this now, but they're really no better. When Battlefield 2 came out, they released extra maps but charged you money for them and called them "booster packs." No one bought them, and the people who did buy them were left with a bunch of maps that servers didn't support. Not to mention when the first Bad Company came out, and they tried charging extra money for unlocks but the huge negative backlash caused them to change their mind. And let's not forget Battlefield 2142...
But to their credit, they've finally released the booster packs for free (after 4 years) as well as a couple other free maps included in patches. Which means it's no longer difficult finding a server hosting those maps.
So yeah, DICE is far from altruistic. They're just putting on their marketing spin to try to gain the favor and support of people crying about Infinity Ward.
Too bad BF:BC was a terrible game, otherwise I'd buy the second one to support them.
Seriously... if you can break the shotgun pump animation by hitting the zoom button, that's poor quality. How did that - something you'll EASILY find within 5 hours of gameplay - make it past QA? How about the hundreds of hit-box issues (playing this one game I experienced more hit-box issues than I ever had before in any game)? What about betraying? It takes 10 teamkills to get kicked. 10! I could go on all day. How about instant-recharging artillery? 3-hit kill machine-gun turrets that have accuracy rivaling a sniper? Cool company viewpoint, but it takes half-decent games to make me a fan.
The only thing I didn't like with the BF series was the online registration to just play offline. I ran into problems with that and it was frustrating.
Hey, Infinity Ward, are you listening.........
I will be buying this game. Take that IW.
PC dedicated > console
pc wins everytime
I'll be picking this up if for no other reason than to support the development house The game looks cool to boot... Kudos DICE for the nod to all us hardcore PC gamers!
Exactly, wasn't all that interested, but now I want to support a developer that actually seems to care about its consumers. IW needs to remember that without the consumer they would not be there and not the other way around.
Even if this is just DICE capitalizing on IW's mistake, I don't care. IW needs to learn a lesson.
I haven't touched my xbox360 in so long I can't remember. PC still wins with me even though I have more xbox360 games than current pc games.
Good for DICE. They have no interest in making money.
... tayb you should start thinking before you speak ... your comments are useless.
Anyways, I was very happy to read this article. I like the last part when he said "If you have played games on the PC for the last ten years you would know what I’m talking about, otherwise I won’t even try to explain" I am right with you on that one! Finally somebody in game development sticks up for us Hardcore PC Gamers!!!
Im going to buy this game just because DICE seems to care about us PC gamers. I still love BF2 to this day and wish they would release BF3 at some point. Thanks DICE, Ill buy your game when its released!
Bad Company 2 will be a good game, BF3 is coming out next year and I am excited like a little girl hehe.
Sorry to spoil the DICE celebration party, but they are just trying to play the good cop to all the people getting screwed by IW. That said maybe there is some truth in what they're saying, but the biggest truth behind the curtain is they merely see a lot of upset MW2 players looking for an alternative. As such they are taking advantage.
That's not a knock at DICE either, that's just how it's supposed to be done. Very well executed. This kind of savvy towards consumers deserves kudos. Consumers don't want to be treated like trash, left in the dark uninformed and unappeased. DICE knows the way to win over buyers is to stroke them harder and faster than the last time.
