VIDEO: Nike to Unveil Back to the Future Shoes Tonight

Laces? Where we're going, we don't need laces.

This time last year, word got out that Nike had patented self-tying shoes. Naturally, the appropriate Back to the Future references were made. However, unlike some patents that are filed just for the sake of it, it seems Nike is deadly serious about producing a pair of self-tying shoes. And the company's targeting nostalgic Back to the Future fans with a teaser video that show said shoes.

Posted by YouTube user DocEmmettBrown88, the following video shows off rows and rows of shoes that glow and light up in certain places. Dubbed "McFly's Closet," the description under the video reads, "If I didn't know any better, I'd say that looks like shelves and shelves of 2011 Nike MAG shoes."

McFly's Closet

As if that wasn't confirmation enough, NikeKicks writer Matt Halfhill last night wrote that Nike contacted him last minute and flew him to LA for an event "with just a few hours notice." When he arrived at his hotel room he found an iPod Shuffle with a message from Doc Brown informing him that "if [his] calculations are correct, over the next 24 hours you are about to see some SERIOUS SH*T!" There was also a haul of 80s candy, a pair of metal shield glasses, a copy of Back to the Future, and an invite to an event scheduled to take place tonight and hosted by Tinker Hatfield, VP of Design and Innovation at Nike.

Prepare for some self-fastening Nike Air Mags, Marty McFly style! Now, who wants to buy me a pair?
