iPad Still On Track for March Release
Hon Hai Precision suppliers claim there's no delay in the iPad launch.
Earlier this week, a Canaccord Adams analyst suggested that a manufacturing problem at Hon Hai Precision (Foxconn) could delay the launch of Apple's new iPad tablet, moving the original March date back to April. Analyst Peter Misek speculated that the problem stems around a production bottleneck, or a shortage of components.
Misek also added that the issue could cut the initial shipment of 1 million units down to a mere 300,000 units. Because of the reduction, Apple would thus be forced to limit the launch region to the United States, or delay the worldwide release altogether, pushing the launch back an entire month.
However HEXUS reports that Hon Hai Precision's suppliers are now disputing the claim, indicating that the manufacturer is indeed set to release between 600,000 and 700,000 iPad units this month alone. An additional 1 million units is scheduled to ship in April.
An additional report from The Charlotte Examiner claims that the first wave of Wi-Fi enabled iPads will actually arrive sometime around March 26. The news is based on an unnamed Apple Store manager in Southern California who claims that training will begin on March 10.
The Examiner also said that commercials for the iPad device will begin their rounds on April 15, and will emphasize the device's capabilities as an ebook reader. There's also indication that fans who plan to camp out in lines for the device will receive a "special gift."

Special gift? Like an accessory that you have to spend an additional $40 for?
ijoke ...
iYawn...
eReader? Without e-ink screen?

Or should I say iSore...
iMe still on track for never buying this piece of crap

The free gift is a workshop on how not to be a gullible douchebag.
As an iPad owner, you're going to need it.
Good to know.. I'm selling my laptop and getting in line for this thing.
Can't wait!
Without the promise of the "special gift" I wonder whether the queues might not form for once. There is nothing wrong with the technology and design behind it per se, but that is a lot of $$$$ for something that cannot replace any of your existing hardware - so it is yet another thing to have to buy and upgrade. Also, everyone knows that they will be releasing iPad 2.0 early next year which will include all the things that were arbitrarily cut from this one. This launch could well be an iFlop.
And for those of you into High Performance Computing (HPC), that would be a Giga-iFlop...
Or Newman jumping into a backyard pool... a Belly-iFlop...
None of these are especially attractive iDeas...
Um...they are out at Walmart and other retail stores already. Been out for a while now. My wife usually buys some every month.
It was pointless to read the Article. Really.
I can't imagine actually waiting in line for a bigger version of something i already have in my pocket.
Yeah, why wait in line when you can just order over the phone from late-night commercials, right Trueno07? Millions of men have already tried them, could they afford to make that offer if they didn't work?
Apple made some money on the iPad, but the real money is all those applications, device is one thing, but the money is in addons.
