GameStop is down — Live updates on the widespread outage
Users appear to be blocked from accessing the website
There seems to be something going on with GameStop's website, as visiting it shows a blocked screen. While Downdetector reports are relatively low at the moment, there's clearly something going on, as we've tested the website ourselves and can't load it.
GameStop hasn't acknowledged anything yet, so we don't have an official word regarding what's happening. We'll continue to monitor GameStop's social channels and reach out to the company to see if we can learn more about what's happening.
GameStop is down — Live outage updates
Downdetector right now
The reports are low for an outage that seems to be affecting a lot people, but despite the relatively low number of reports, we're still confidnet that something is wrong with the popualr video game retailer.
GameStop shut down its own site?
There is speculation on the internet that GameStop shutdown in its own site because a glitch was causing Promembers to see the account information and orders for other members.
Much of the speculation can be found in this Reddit thread, where the original poster said they kept seeing different orders when they refreshed.
I am starting to see this idea spread through other social platforms.
Silence from GameStop
I have reached out to GameStop for comment on the website and app outage and the cause.
If the company responds, I will make sure you get an update.
In the meantime, GameStop has remained silent on the problem.
The most recent tweet on the company's official X account says it is aware of the "infinite money" glitch where purchasing a Switch 2 and a used game and then returning them could get you extra money back.
Otherwise, bupkis.
It's another blackmark against the company has it recently announced the closure of more than 400 stores.
Have you tried to access GameStop?
Hey, have you tried to access GameStop today? If so, did you see other people's account information?

GameStop is still a memestock
Since the heady days of 2021 when a short squeeze turned into a manic stock explosion, GameStop's IPO turned into a memestock that made some people rich and bolster the coffers of the beleagured company. Folding Ideas on YouTube has a good breakdown you can see in the video above if you've got a couple of hours.
But as Forbes reported in December, despite the well-performing stock, the company has struggled to keep its brick and mortar stores open.
These days it's more known for holding the moon and selling Pokemon cards.
Three hours in and no changes
The GameStop outage appeared to kick off around 8 a.m. PT. We're three hours into the website being blocked.
And...nothing has really changed since then. Reports have plateaued around 150 reports on Down Detector.
GameStop has remained frustratingly silent. There have been no posts on social media beyond what appears to be a pre-scheduled response to an Apple Music branded account from January 15.
The company has yet to respond to media inquiries.
What we're left with is speculation where people believe that a Promember glitch was causing account information for other people to show up for users.
A light eye
With no changes and response, we'll keep an eye on GameStop but for now everything remains down.
I even tried calling the company and could not get a response.
