Obscura VPN finally arrives on Android – and it's offering a launch discount
The privacy-first VPN leaves Apple exclusivity behind with its Android debut
Obscura VPN has launched on Android, marking the privacy-focused provider's first step beyond Apple's ecosystem. Previously limited to macOS and iOS, the app is now available on Google Play, with a secondary listing on Obtainium for users who prefer open-source app distribution.
To celebrate, Obscura VPN is offering 25% off for all users with promo code ANDROID26 for a limited time – bringing its monthly cost down from $8 per month, to $6 per month.
Windows and Linux apps are also in development, with a waitlist open for those platforms.
Obscura VPN is still very new, and its release on Android sees it make a big step towards seriously challenging the best VPNs.

How Obscura VPN works
Obscura VPN's two-party relay architecture is what sets it apart from mainstream VPNs. Most route traffic through a single server operated by one company, where your whole connection journey can be seen (but not logged).
Obscura VPN splits that picture in two. Your connection enters through Obscura VPN's server, which sees your IP but never logs it, before passing to an exit node run independently by Mullvad VPN. This then connects you to the internet without ever seeing who you are.
The app also uses a custom obfuscation protocol based on QUIC to disguise VPN usage and bypass firewalls, making it well-suited to users in regions with heavy internet censorship.
Obscura VPN's source code is publicly available on GitHub, and a December 2025 audit by German security firm Cure53 found no high- or critical-severity vulnerabilities.
Why Android, and what's next?
Obscura VPN launched exclusively on macOS in February 2025, later expanding to iOS. Android is its first move onto non-Apple hardware, and is a logical next step for a provider that has stated its ambition to be available to everyone, regardless of platform.
Carl Dong, founder of Obscura VPN, commented on the Android release: "For many, Android is their primary way of getting online, including in places where surveillance, blocking, and censorship are increasingly part of daily life."
"As the only Two-Party Relay VPN on Android, Obscura offers verifiable privacy that doesn’t rely on pinky promises, paired with strong obfuscation that resists blocking and censorship."
"We’re grateful to everyone who waited for Obscura on Android, and we’ve already started working on Windows and Linux to bring the private and open internet to every major platform."
A Linux and Windows waitlist is open on Obscura VPN's website.
