Like an NFL quarterback or an EPL striker, the GPU is the unmitigated crowning jewel when it comes to PC components during early Black Friday 2025 deals. Even if you’re not a sports fan, with a little research, it will quickly become clear that a good graphics card is central to enjoying PC gaming.

Thanks to the biggest sales event of the year, you'll find plenty of these graphics cards for less, including this Gigabyte Aero RTX 5060 down to $319 at Walmart, along with a PowerColor AMD RX 9070 XT nearly $100 off. And for a real power boost, this Asus Prime RTX 5080 is just under $200 off.

As you scroll below, you’ll soon find out that not all GPUs are created equal. If you want the latest entry-level cards from AMD and Nvidia, you’re looking at less of an outlay than the base PS5. Not good enough? Those who are willing to spend just under $1,500 can obtain an RTX 5080 — a GPU capable of crippling Cyberpunk 2077 at max settings.

The select GPUs I've rounded up below will happily power the very best gaming PCs in 2025. Don’t have the budget for the best of the best hardware? Even the lowest-powered cards on this list can still play some of the latest and demanding PC games.

The entry-level 50-series GPU from Team Green is an excellent graphics card if you’re looking to run games at either 1080/1440p at 60 FPS (or above) at high settings. 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM isn’t exactly ideal for the cutting edge of PC tech in 2025, yet this puppy is capable of running Cyberpunk 2077 with ray-tracing enabled at PS5-beating frame rates, set to the right tweaks.

Now this is the RTX 5060 Ti you'll want to bag, as it comes with 16GB of GDDR7 video memory, which is more than enough to handle games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Cyberpunk 2077 and more. Expect smooth 1080/1440p gameplay, and with Nvidia's multi-frame gen, frame rates going well beyond 120 FPS.

Another fantastic piece of hardware for the current generation of Nvidia graphics cards. Will the 5070 ever be a 4K/120 FPS monster in modern triple-A titles? Absolutely not. But paired with a decent CPU and 16GB of RAM, you’re looking at a GPU that can handily outperform any console... perhaps barring the PS5 Pro.

Hey, AMD deserves a bit of a bone. Nvidia may dominate the GPU market, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t throw some love on Team Red. With a 2460MHz clock speed and 16GB of VRAM, AMD’s top-of-the-tree GPU can easily outperform either the PS5 or Xbox Series X. If you don’t need 5090/5080 speeds, the RX 970 is well worth looking at.

The second fastest consumer GPU has you covered for all of your 4K/ultra-fast FPS dreams. Clocked at 2.61GHz and supporting HDMI 2.1 tech (meaning 4K/120 FPS is on the table), the 5080 is a dream card, providing you have a spare $1,000 kicking about. This Asus Prime model may not be that fancy to look at, but hoo-boy does it deliver in terms of performance.

This utterly gorgeous all-white GPU will have your back no matter how far you crank the ray-tracing features up in Alan Wake 2. With 16GB of RAM, a 256-bit GDDR7 bus and WindForce cooling, Gigabyte’s high-end graphics card is as pretty as it is performant.

Should you buy an Xbox Series X or (for around the same-ish ballpark) an RTX 560 GPU? Not exactly a tough one, considering how unwilling Microsoft seems to be when it comes down to the future of console gaming. This rock-solid card handily outperforms the 4060 thanks to x3 and x4 frame gen features in selected games. Spider-Man 2 at 120 FPS is quite the sight.

An utter beast of a GPU, if not quite the best. If you want to easily outgun current consoles in terms of raw performance at 4K, look no further than the RTX 5070. Even super-demanding, ray-traced heavy games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle can accommodate 60 FPS play on this card. And hey, if it’s good enough for Indy, it’s good enough for us.

As much as the recent delay of GTA 6 pains me, the part of me that is obsessed with GPU tech is dreaming of the day when I get to play the unhinged Vice City-based sandbox on PC, most likely on an RTX 6090 in 2028, considering the current delays. Still, in the here and now, there’s no better way to play the remarkably pretty GTA 5 Enhanced than on an RTX 5090.
