4.3 Mil Xbox 360 Consoles Sold During Holidays
Microsoft was able to sell 4.3 million Xbox 360 units during the fourth calendar quarter 2007 (fiscal Q2 2008). The number is slightly down from 4.4 million units the company sold during the Christmas season of 2007. Unit sales for the first six months of Microsoft’s fiscal year 2008 came in at 6.1 million, up from 5.4 million in H1 FY2007.
The manufacturer’s entertainment division was able to report an operating profit for the second time in a row: Revenues increased by $115 million to $3.06 billion and an operating loss $302 million in the fourth quarter of 2006 year was turned into an operating profit of $357 million in 2007. For the six month of the firm’s fiscal year, the operating profit of Microsoft’s entertainment division stood at $524 million.
Microsoft said that it was able to increase its operating profit in the last quarter because of higher sales, as well decreased marketing expenses and a substantial drop in Xbox manufacturing cost.
