Raytracing: POV-Ray For Windows
In this discipline, the competitors render a scene (Chess2) using the raytracing program Povray. This is a very CPU-intensive task, and is scored according to the rendering time.

The desktop system just nudges ahead of its notebook opponent thanks to its faster FSB.
MP3 Encoding: MP3 Maker Platinum 3.04

When encoding the Wave file to MP3 with a variable bit rate, the faster FSB and HT capabilities of the CPU in the desktop system gave it the upper hand.
