Just like what they did for Transformers and G.I. Joe!

While Peter Jackson of LOTR fame is no longer attached to the Halo movie project, that doesn't mean that the chronicles surrounding Master Chief are down the drain. In fact, if a report from IESB is to be believed, Steven Spielberg is interested in producing a Halo movie based on Stuart Beattie's script (who co-wrote G.I. Joe).

The IESB reasons that Dreamworks is looking for a new big blockbuster action franchise now that it has lost the rights to Transformers to Paramount after the movie company aligned itself with Walt Disney Pictures.

We're well aware of what the Transformers and G.I. Joe movies have done to our childhood memories from our favorite cartoon and toy franchises, so is anyone opposed to the team of Spielberg and Beattie to make a Halo movie?

If Transformers 2 and GI Joe are any sign of the direction popular-topic movies are going, they might as well quit while they're ahead.

I don't think that Transformers was bad BECAUSE of Steven Spielberg's involvement, so I see no reason Halo doesn't have a fair chance.

I don't care WHO makes it, so long as it becomes the one game movie that doesn't suck!

The last few years have been bleak as far as movies go. I'm not sure if it's the funding, the piracy issues, or what. But, I haven't gone to a movie and been floored by the experience in a very long time.

Well, it can't be any worse than the Doom movie. I actually bought that on DVD just so I could marvel in its awfulness over and over!

If only Spielberg would direct the movie himself and not let that idiot Michael Bay touch it.

We need more Iron Mans, and less GI Joe, Iron Man and Transformer 1 gives me hope that they CAN be done right, if the effort is put into it.

Even if it's bad, Halo fans will flock to see it just so they can complain how bad it is. I hope they do a good job making this movie, but we'll just have to wait and see.

If Spielberg does to Halo what he did to the last Indiana Jones movie we're all in for a craptastic film.

JJ Abrams would be the best director. Star Trek was incredible.

Because based on those movies you think they are ahead?

dont have high expectations, that way you wont be disappointed. judging by the way other games-movies went, the bar isnt set too high though. and yeah halo fans will still flock to see it. hope there are few cheesy moments, like 117 going 'finishing this fight' at the end of halo 2. you know, that was TOTALLY unpredictable. /sarcasm (they work ok in games but are WAYYYYYY overused in crummy films. too many to list of course)

I'll watch this movie after I finish reading Moby Dick, Heart of Darkness, Count of Monte Cristo, and War And Peace. Pride and Prejudice was in the list, but, after finishing Sense and Sensitivity, I figured out that chick novels aren't really my thing.

spielberg sucks and so will this movie if he has anything to do with it. jackson could have made this epic, but now it shall fail

I think JJ Abrams, Jackson are the type of people who can make griddy SCIFI movies that don't suck... something different, tell a story etc.

Yeah, Shatner is always THE Captain Kirk. But JJ Abrams did a great job of making Star Trek, caught the spirit of the characters and then some. The ship is still a bit goofy looking... if the engines were just a bit further apart... and the inside of the ship looks like a beer factor (oh, it is) - far bigger than the outside.

Honestly, Peter Jackson is the man I want to see making the Halo movie. Hell, I wouldn't be sad if he started making ALL action movies.

Him or JJ Abrams. Spielberg is becoming one of the "bad" ones.

This is disheartening. Jackson, with the right budget, could have brought life to the entire franchise, what with all the Nylund and other back story novels out there. Spielberg will go for the CGI over plot development and poison the well. While I may watch it just to confirm my lingering doubt, like Transformers II and GI Joe, I will not waste credibility recommending it others nor money buying the DVD, I suspect.

Oh well.

I hate Spielberg. After what happened to Indiana Jones and Star Wars....I lost ALL faith in him. Indiana Jones 4 could have been GREAT. Ford had the talent if the movie was built right and for him (and his age). But no, instead they put him in with aliens, greasers adn the kid from Transformers...my god I couldn't have thought of a more stupid plot and cast if I tried. Who the F wrote that script? Shoot them in the head.

Spielberg is nowhere near as bad as Lucas... There is a chance that Lucas helped screwed up Indy 4.

The Star Wars story is still a great saga... Lucas should have given the directing jobs to others since Empire. Ep3 was actually good, the "noooooooooooooooooooo!" part was still rather lame. Choosing bad actors, and making "everything" connect was never needed nor "cute"... like Greedo in Ep1. Not needed.

Chewbacca knowing Yoda... means he also knows Anakin. Afterall, that Skywalker was a well known Jedi. He'd be like "Huh? Skywalker?!"

Lucas CAN direct (or did) as he did with Star Wars. But I think Creatures and CGI has gone to his brain.

Yes, I LOVE EYE Candy. I want to see epic space battles - for which the one in EPIII in the opening was way too short. If you read the book, there were ships like Republic Crusiers crashing into the planet.

Or stupid plot problems. Like when the Jedi takes Anakin, but leaves his mother as a slave... but then bitch "He is unstable because he is concerned about his mother"... Jedi, has star ships a huge building.. can't afford to buy her? Right.

Simple solution and MORE reasonable. The Jedi bought her freedom, but she already had a boyfriend and stayed on Tatooniee to marry him. The rest of the story about he death could be the same. Just a bunch of stupid crap like that makes the movie "stupid".

CG has to be done right... not over done. District 9 looks great, its getting great reviews. It seems like something US humans would do. Check out the original 6min version from 2005 on you tube called: Alive in Joburg

No I think he meant that transformers was good, GI-JOE was bad
lets not do HALO cause it would suck.
The direction is going downward is what I believe he meant.

Well, I love the idea with the halos, could be great if they don't have to many elements of the game in it, because lets face it - games that are made into movies suck.

Might even be a good idea to take master chief outta the movie completely.

Michael Bay is a great Director! Look at how much money he is making. You just have to put him in the box saying "EXPLOSIONS"... him doing a top-notch brain advancing movie, never happen.

Even many many years ago, saw the trailer for Perl Harbor... I thought "hmmm... could be good", then I saw the name "Michael Bay" -ARGH. I saw the movie, it was worse. A Titanic rip-off during the attack on Perl Harbor... puke puke.

I forgot! South Park did an excellent version of what Spielberg and Lucas did to Indiana Jones.... they raped him.

Can't get more true than that.
