Online Revenues Hard Hit By Economic Downturn
New York (NY) - Revenues garnered by online display ads dropped sharply from March to April, according to new figures released by an online ad price indexing site, PubMatic. Prices paid by most online magazines, publishers and newspapers dropped 23% in that month, while large web publishers were extremely hard hit and lost 52% of their display ad revenues.
While display ads - often those flashy and colorful banner type ads - fared poorly, search ads like those from Google are still going strong. Google recently reported a 30% increase in ad revenues and a quarterly profit of $1.31 billion.
