Thieves Steal iPad Along With Man's Finger [UPD]
iPad robbery results in nasty ending for victim.
An iPad was the target of a mugging incident in Denver, Colorado that left a man without the newly purchased Apple device and his pinky finger.
Last Thursday, 59-year-old Bill Jordan walked into an Apple Store at Cherry Creek Mall to purchase an iPad for a colleague in Canada (where the iPad is not yet available). After leaving the store, surveillance film showed that Jordan was followed by two young men.
Just a outside the parking garage, one of the men went for the bag containing the iPad. The bag, however, was tied around Jordan's finger.
"He was almost sitting on the ground he was pulling so hard and it was still tied around my fingers; and it wouldn't come off and then finally he gave it one big jerk; and that's when he stripped the skin off my pinky and it went right down to the bone," Jordan described to CBS4 in Denver. "I saw just a bone, all the skin and tendons and everything were off."
Jordan then used napkins from a nearby food vendor to try to control the bleeding before paramedics rushed him to the hospital. Unfortunately, a hand surgeon told him that part of his finger would have to be amputated.
Jordan has a message for the criminals who attacked him: "I hope you understand what you've done to my life and my family's life for a simple piece of apparatus that'll be junk in a couple of years."
UPDATE: They found the guy who robbed the man.

It's junk already and Apple will declare it junk in 10 months when they release one with Flash and webcam.
They need to find him and beat that arse. I saw the camera shot of this guy...he had on a tracksuit. Stealing an Ipad is one thing, but wearing a tracksuit? What sorcery is this???

On the (sort of) up-side, the pinky is not the most useful out of the fingers. Not as bad as losing an index finger anyway. Still sucks though

I'm definately not an apple fan, nor a sucker for the hype, but i feel for this poor dude. i hope they catch the waste of space that did this.
Apple product hypewill create more vistims liek this though, the more you flout wealth in public and the greater the gap between rich and poor the more we will see this ...still not fair though!

Fortunately the pinky is relatively useless (my pinkies are messed up and it's painful for me to use them).

Sheesh, this is as bad as a few years ago when the PS3 came out, and 90% of buyers were snatching 'em in hopes of scoring $3-10,000US for it on eBay. And then there was tons of paranoia over thieves who'd mug people for their PS3s... This is really just as sad; those that were so desperate to steal an iPad they permanently injured an innocent man for the rest of his life? Sheesh. It's no wonder so many of the more intelligent people have lost all faith in humanity.
