Regular iPad Went on Sale on eBay for $10,000

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

How badly do you want an iPad?

iPads might be selling like hotcakes in the states but Apple fans outside the U.S. can't even purchase the device yet. With an estimated 800,000 sold already, the iPad has already proven it is a must-have device in some circles. So, how are people overseas getting their hands on the latest gotta-have-it gadget? They're forking out an arm and a leg, that's how.

Early this morning, one eBay user (via Giz) was selling an iPad for $10,000.  The seller was offering to hand deliver to anywhere in the world so presumably some of that $10,000 was to pay for a last minute, international flight. Still, it's a little pricey when you consider an international launch is said to be just around a corner.

Bloomberg today cites an eBay spokesperson that said the number of iPads on the site rose to 2,600 in the week ended April 3 and 80 percent of iPad purchases were coming from outside the U.S. Bloomberg writes that the average price of an iPad on eBay at the moment is about $777 dollars. Or those outside the U.S. could just wait a couple of weeks.

I think this is just a clever way for him to go on a vacation. making some poor fanboi out of state pay for him to travel to another country. But he wont be smiling when he is mugged for his iPad on his way to deliver it to some third world country and has to come up with a 10K refund.

It's amazing how much stuff is already on ebay. I searched for "ipad" in the "computers" category and got 7400 hits, 5300 of which are cases and other misc. stuff for under $50. A lot of the actual ipads seemed to be around $150-200 over retail cost.

They sure as hell wont be a fanboy. As much as I hate fanboyism, they at least have some common sense that it isn't worth that much no matter how bad you want it. This is definitely going to a rich retard.

And I counted almost 30 listed on our local Craigslist, all for at least $100 over retail+tax.

for that price, why don't they just come and get it themselves. I'm sure the international flight and overnight stay is way less then 10k. Looks to me someone looking to get rich quick. I guess this tell you the IQ of the average apple user. they don't even know what a good price is, or they don't know because they are use to over priced computers.

Hm, so a guy on eBay will hand deliver anywhere in the world, yet Tom's will still only offer competitions to the US and nowhere else in the world. Figures?
