4. Long Battery Life, Continued
As a feature, HP offers a 58Wh auxiliary battery for the nx6125 for around $130/€184. This is connected, when needed, to the underside of the computer. When used along with the 52Wh primary battery, the battery life is more than doubled, at least in theory.

The HP Common Travel Battery of the Compaq nx6125 supplies an additional 58Wh of energy.
One positive feature is that the holding mechanism of the auxiliary battery is designed so that it can be attached or removed with one hand while your other hand holds the notebook.

The contacts of the auxiliary battery are protected from dust by covers, but the connections of the docking station are not.
A lot of grey cells were applied to engineering when one of the two batteries are charged or discharged. In principle, with the Compaq nx6125, the auxiliary battery is discharged first and charged last. This is a much more sensible feature than for example with the M460XLb from Gateway. Here, the battery that goes into the machine first is charged or discharged. So it can often be the case that you are left with an empty battery while on the move. This is the case if you leave the fully charged auxiliary battery at home because you want to keep the amount you carry to a minimum, and the primary battery is only half charged because it was charged after the secondary battery.

With the Compaq nx6125 the auxiliary battery is always used up first and re-charged last.

The additional battery comes with a battery tester.
