9. DirectX8: UT 2003

The 3D engine of the FPS game Unreal Tournament is, in principle, a DirectX7 engine enhanced with a couple of DX8 features. To get the most out of the graphics cards, we use the maximum detail settings for testing.

In the Antalus Flyby Demo without FSAA, the Dell Inspiron 8600 with GeForce FX Go 5650 is a nose ahead of the notebooks with mobile chips from ATI. Even the Blackbox M11 with MR 9700 graphics processor gets the short end of the stick. Against the desktop configurations with GeForce FX 5700 Ultra or ATI Radeon 9600 XT, ATI's 8600 falls further and further behind.
