7. DVD Playback

Inserting a DVD into the Datago causes it to play automatically. The quality is excellent, with no discernable differences in playback compared to a regular DVD player. Chapters can be skipped by pushing controls on the front panel or on the remote.

While the DVD is playing, you can go back to the Media Center menus and do other things such as watching TV or scheduling a recording. The DVD continues playing, and is viewable in the bottom left corner.

Radio And Music Playback

After plugging in an FM antenna to the back of the Datago you can listen to and record your favorite radio stations. You may have to purchase an amplified antenna though, because the included antenna is fairly poor at picking up signals. While you are listening to the radio, the controls remain on-screen in the bottom left corner, so you are free to do other things such as watch TV or surf the web.

You can play back music in MP3, WMV and WMA formats. Files can be played from the Datago unit itself, or Media Center can search through your network for music files. Before playback, Media Center will attempt to find album and track information through the Internet; songs can also be purchased from the Microsoft Music store. Finally, music files can be burned to a CD or DVD by simply clicking the "Create CD/DVD" feature.
