4. The Same Problem For Videos

The iPhone, the Touch and the Nano
The fact that the iPod Touch and Nano do not support DivX represents a huge oversight. In order to watch video files, the user has to convert files to an MPEG-4 or H.264 format, which is usually time consuming. You’ll need to download a particular program to convert the files, and we recommend the Videora iPod Converter on Windows or iSquint for Mac to do that.
The iPod Touch’s Redeeming Features
The iPod Touch has more than one trick up its sleeve and has made up for its downfalls with some new innovative features. Its Wi-Fi connectivity allows you to access the Internet, thanks to the Safari browser, and you can now buy songs online from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store.
The iPod’s Video And Audio Quality

The Nano is now back in chrome.
The iPod always had a good, slightly above-average sound quality without ever being the best in the market. This is the case once more. It can’t really be said that the sound quality is any better than that of previous models, though. However, it’s hard to find a massive difference compared to the supposedly better models from companies such as Cowon or Creative.
Only the keenest listener would ever notice certain saturations in the bass or the high pitches, but for this you would have to have high-quality headphones and listen to uncompressed music. Do remember to buy new headphones if you’re rushing out to pick up an iPod Touch - the ones that come with it are, in our opinion and as usual for the iPod, really poor.

Using an external headphone with the nano makes a large difference. I use a Ray Samuels Hornet with a set of Grados and you can easily tell the difference between a Apple lossless and 256K AAC or 128K AAC files.

***************************************************************
1: Works flawlessly with my Linksys G router
2: Its "on Hand" when I need a map, etc when watching documentaries
3: Gmail and a Wi-Fi restaurant enable brief travel notes back home without having to use our "Canada" phone at around $2 a minute in the America.
4: Its fun.
5: Typing in - the Google box -- is a bit tough. Otherwise a spell check helps speed text through memo boxes
6: Sennheiser PX-200's (non returnable gift) sound is quite good + with EQ set at R&B (fixes SPL 200hz -2000hz slump)
7: Excellent photo shows
8: Opens the world of Podcasts = Jean Shepherd, Agata Christie mysteries, photography.
9: 8 Gig has enough on-the-go room for "days" of listening.
10: Size is perfect ... I am not sure why the "metal" is not Kevlar, etc to further reduce weight
I could go on. Suffice now to say that this device is just a wonder to use and behold. Another reminder that " we in the West" are so very, very, privledged.
