iOS-Controlled Network Camera Spies on Kids, Guests
Here's a cool network-enabled camera that will send feeds to an Apple iOS device, or to a private channel on YouTube.
Monday Stem Innovation launched the iZON Remote Room Monitor, an app-controlled video camera that enables live streaming of audio and video to an Apple iOS device. Don't have an iPod Touch, iPad or iPhone? No problem. The device will even send the feeds to a private YouTube channel for viewing on a Windows-based desktop, laptop, or Apple's Mac platform.
"iZON gives our customers an engaging way to stay connected,” says Gary Bart, President and CEO of Stem Innovation. "The combination of its incredible ease of use, automated features and affordable pricing is a game-changer."
The iZON camera has a built-in wireless adapter, so it can be easily integrated into most home and business networks without much of a fuss. Resembling an external hard drive (or a fancy air freshener), the camera can be placed anywhere within the local Wi-Fi network, whether it's on a horizontal surface or mounted on the ceiling. It won't activate until it detects motion or hears a noise within the surrounding area, and will send push notifications to the iOS device once it becomes active. Users can access the feed locally or from anywhere around the world
According to the quick-start guide, the camera requires an existing 802.11g/n wireless network to become a discoverable device for the iOS apps. The motion and noise detection capabilities provide customizable thresholds – motion or noise that exceeds these thresholds can generate alerts which can be received via push notifications, text messages or emails. It even tilts and swivels easily on a unique magnetic base.
"Download the free Stem:Connect App, then simply plug iZON in and set it up on your local wireless network," the company said. "A few simple steps help you to create a secure user account and begin streaming live audio and video. iZON is peace of mind, connecting you to the most important people, places and things in your life."
Currently there are no immediate plans to create an actual client for the PC platform although it's something that Stem Innovation "plans to explore in the future." We're still awaiting feedback in regards to a possible Android app, so stay tuned.
iZON is available today at www.steminnovation.com and in select Best Buy locations. The camera will also be available soon at Apple retail stores across the U.S. and Canada. iZON will be arriving at all Target retail locations in early October. The suggested retail price is $129.95 USD.

Stranger: "Cancel the plan, they have SpyTech"
"private channel on YouTube" There is no such thing as private channel on YouTube. Google and Apple is in bed with the Obama regime, aka FEDS and they have access to everything in the Cloud. MS has been in bed with the FEDS for many years.
Almost every reputable home video security suite (multi-camera, with HDD storage, etc) have streaming through their own proprietary software to iOS, Android, and windows. And most of them cost ~4-600 for 8 cameras, which isn't too shabby
They invent an easy-to-use security camera, and the first thing you think of is spying on kids and guests? There are legitimate uses for video cameras!

I know, creepy.

There is no such thing as private "anything" on "anything" from governments and intelligence organizations, that is a well known fact. That goes for all countries, not just USA. "Private Youtube channel" means that it's hidden from other youtube users ...except if they work for a government or an intalligence organization

Dude stop with the political BS.
I'm scared...
Is nobody else reminded of Hypercubes fictional evil corporation IZON ?
"Resembling an external hard drive (or a fancy air freshener)" This could easily be placed in restrooms if its designed to look like an air freshener. Which is sick on all accounts.
Its illegal to record other people without their consent in most states in the US. So you better invest in a couple of those "Smile, your on camera" signs. Those are not there to deter people from stealing in a store as much as they are to notify you your being recorded.
Placing a spy cam anywhere, even in your home is an invasion of privacy that will not hold up in court in all but the most heinous of situations, and can get you sued by almost anyone.
As always from Apple based companies, another over priced product that can easily be purchased for less money and better performance from any other company.

FEDS and their spying and covering up all information in relation to the existence of extraterrestrial intelligent life. The Cancer Man controls all the strings..
As a person that uses a baby monitor to monitor my 2 year old, I think this is great because the normally baby monitors that you get at BabiesRus only works with the crap monitor. Nice to know that there is a solution that will work with a IPhone or IPad.
Could be used for a wide variety of applications, but I bet the most use will be to spy on a spouse.
$130 for a self contained ip camera that is easy to setup and aimed at non-technical "home" users, is a pretty good deal. guess it depends on the image quality and how easy the setup really is.
