Developer Visceral Games recently posted a "help wanted" ad over on LinkedIn, looking for a lead combat and controls designer for an upcoming game. The job responsibilities include the conceptualization, scripting, and fine-tuning of combat moves, prototyping combat arenas, and to work with other departments in creating a "polished combat experience." Visceral is looking for recruits fashioned from action and fighting games, and those with skills in using 3D level design tools such as UnrealEd, 3DS Max, and Maya.
But the big news here isn't about the job, but rather the game the job is actually for: Dead Space 2. According to the posting, Dead Space 2 is now in the later stages of pre-production, and will be ready for production within the next few months. Visceral said that the combat mechanics are already in place, and apparently have "complete autonomy and creative control over our own decisions."
"The Games Label at EA is 100-percent committed to this IP, and has already worked on IP extensions such as comic, animated features, and action figures," the company reports. "We’re looking for a few more talented individuals to join, and take the game to new heights."
Visceral also added that the same core team that worked on the first installment is back in action for the sequel, ready to create an even better follow up. The original title, which hit the streets in 2008, scored an average of 89-percent on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and an 87-percent average score on the PC.

Won't buy it, after that stunt about Dead Space: Extraction being only available for the wii. The wii!? It lost all cred after that.
First! You know what I hate about consoles? What sequels are now, were what expansions were for the PC years ago. This is an expansion if they already have the game mechanics ready.
Dead Space one had draconian DRM including limited activations (rent-a-game), online activation required, I stayed clear of it. EA has since backed off on over the top DRM, maybe being sued for several games DRM (Spore) helped along with a overall PC gamer boycott of their crap too. If EA stays end user friendly with their DRM I may look at buying this one.
Dragon Age by Bioware/EA is to be disk check only and will get my cash.
Yeah, I had one issue with a DRM game, and I actually returned it to Best Buy where they accepted the PC game for a full refund. I bought a laptop there that had the hardware and software specs to play it, and told them to try and install the game on the same in-store laptop that I had. Suffice to say, they couldn't do it. I think the game was Fallout 3. Heard it was a great game, but there's no shortage of games that don't have DRM's on them. That's where my cash is going, I don't want any @#$%ing headaches.
