Sotec C1 Netbook, Say Hello to Kitty
What do you get when you mix cuteness and a netbook? You get the Sotec C1 Hello Kitty-branded netbook, of course
From video games to AK-47’s, there appears to be nothing impervious to Hello Kitty-branding; netbooks never really stood a chance. The new limited edition Sotec C1 netbook by Onkyo is the world’s first official Hello Kitty netbook, but unlike some other Hello Kitty-themed notebooks, the Sotec C1 takes on a rather tasteful approach. With limited use of the color pink, the Sotec C1 includes several desktop background images featuring Hello Kitty, a startup screen, a special Hello Kitty hinge cover and a Hello Kitty-themed lid.
As for system specifications, the Sotec C1 is a pretty typical netbook, featuring an Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB of 533 MHz DDR2 memory and a 10.1-inch LED back-lit display with a 1,024 by 600 resolution. The netbook also includes a 120 GB hard drive, 802.11g WiFi, three USB ports, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and Windows XP Home. The system has a weight of 2.65-pounds, a thickness of 1.22-inches and a battery life of 2.1-hours.
Outside of Japan, the Sotec C1 Hello Kitty netbook goes for a price of $890.95, which is about twice the cost of a regular netbook. For those looking for a stylish netbook that is somewhat more affordable though, Dell now offers its Inspiron Mini 9 netbook in the colors cherry red and pretty pink, along with now offering large artistic stickers, starting at just $374.
