Google Stops ICS Roll-out for Nexus S in Some Areas
Google has put its Ice Cream Sandwich roll-out on hold due to apparent battery issues some Nexus S users are having.
Google has announced that it has put a temporary stop to the roll-out of Android 4.0, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich, to Nexus S users. Speaking via the Google support pages, Google community manager Paul Wilcox has informed users that the update had been paused in some areas to give the company an opportunity to "monitor feedback." Judging from the statement, it doesn't seem to have affected users in all countries, as Wilcox says the update is continuing 'around the world' and that users will receive a second notification once the update is available in their region once again.
If you received an update notification a little while ago but the update isn't currently available for your phone, this is likely the result of Google pausing the update in your area while we monitor feedback. The Android 4.0 update is continuing to roll out around the world so your phone will receive another update notification when it's available again in your region.
Mr. Wilcox did not elaborate on the feedback Google is currently monitoring and Google has yet to release an official statement on the matter, but Electronista reports that it could be because users have been reporting "unusually high battery drain," which the site thinks could be down to an increase in processor usage. We'll keep you posted on this issue and update if Google confirms or contradicts these reports. In the mean time, are there any Nexus S users experiencing issues with battery life? We updated a few days ago and haven't seen any drastic changes in battery life.

!@#@!#!! These advertisements are getting old!
Did the manual update .. all is cool. Google did a great work on this one XD.
They could just read all the forums from xda-developers and the like for feedback.
Nevertheless, it is good to stay on top of things, as opposed to releasing same update for all the phones and then having to deal with non-compatibility issues. Not talking about Nexus S, which is compatible, but other phones, as well.
There have been instances where updates to OS have been rolled out to older phone models, only to worsen the user experience.
yes 4.0.3 is definitely killing my battery much faster than 3.6 was! ack.
...didn't think Android could drain the battery any faster than it already does...lol

I've been stuck with 2.3.3 on my SGS for months and that drains the battery like water down a drain.
Hopefully they release a fix for any battery issues soon for all of us. lol.
i have been running 2.3.6 for a few months and battery performance is great but even had the same performance under 2.3.3
nexus S FTW
Battery drains fast but they need to fix the volume problem before they see an influx of returns within the 30 day money back guarantee...
Hey Jane,
It's about time to poke Google and get them to make a statement on this Nexus S update issue don't you think?? It all began about mid-December and now it is mid-January and we Nexus S owners know NOTHING. Remember to remind Google to "do good .... not bad"
HELP,
Bob
