Finally: Gmail Allows Multiple Google Logins
If you're one of the many people with more than one gmail account, Google has just made your life a little easier.
If you're like me, you've got a couple of Gmail accounts for various different reasons. Whether it's because you needed something more professional than your old iheartmichaelchall@gmail.com handle, or because you have an address dedicated to your blog about chickens in clothes, it's not unusual for people to have more than one account. Unfortunately for multiple-account holders, logging in to more than one account has never been easy. You have to be willing to use a different browser for each account if you want both open at the same time. Otherwise, you'll be logging in and out like a yo-yo.
Google this week changed things up a little to allow multiple sign-ins from the same browser. By clicking the link next to "multiple sign-in" on the Google accounts page, you can sign in with up to two additional accounts. A drop-down menu allows you to easily toggle back and forth between the three. Most importantly, you can finally have different Gmail account tabs open in the same browser.
Some things to remember while using this function (as listed by Macduff Hughes, Engineering Director at Google):
"1) Not all Google services support multiple account sign-in yet. For the services that don't support it (like Blogger and Picasa Web Albums), you'll be defaulted to the first account you signed in with during that browser session. So if you click a link from Gmail to Blogger, for example, you'll be logged into Blogger with the first account you signed in with, even if you clicked the link to Blogger from your second Gmail account.
2) We’re still working on making Gmail and Calendar work offline with multiple sign-in. If you rely on offline access, you probably don't want to enable this feature quite yet.
3) Multiple account sign-in only works on desktop browsers for now, so if you use Gmail on your phone's browser you won't see this option yet.
Since Google Apps customers can already sign in to their accounts at the same time as their personal Google Accounts, we won’t be adding this new feature to Google Apps until the new infrastructure is in place."

Um, why not just install an email client and check all your email at once (I believe there are numerous, free email apps out there, or Outlook if you're [s]stupid[/s]desperate)? Google is one of the few email providers that allows IMAP. Also, doesn't Google let you check a different email address through GMail? Couldn't you have set your primary account to also check your secondary account (no, I'm not talking about forwarding)? I mean, I know I can tell Yahoo to check my Gmail (but only with POP, which sucks).
Here's another trick. Use a browser with Private Tabs (Porn Mode). Since the tabs don't interact with each other, you could log in on separate tabs, links still work, and better yet, when you close your browser, it clears the memory and doesn't leave you logged-in (also wipes tracking cookies and other crap).
Seems to me, the need to login multiple times is simply a work around to other, better tools that already existed.
this is awesomerific!
I am glad that they are doing this... now if they could allow users to use different email addresses with youtube and google payments than i would be ecstatic.

There are people who use public computers, or those who do not have admin rights on the PC's they use.
"for various different reasons?" lol
So when can I expect an update for my Android client?
Hotmail has had this for... oh I don't know... 2 years?

Hey! That's my Gmail!

Finally no need for Chrome, Opera, Maxthon, or IE. Time to clean up.
Where on earth did you find that?
Little bit late on this Toms?
I've been doing this with Gmail for some time now. I can even browse all my email in the same tab. I've set it up so that different inboxes are sectioned off into different sections on the screen.
This sounds like it would be more useful to those who use different Google services beyond Gmail. Good stuff either way.
Good for Google. Time for Microsoft to implement this on Hotmail for me.
One Google account, very old and my short address reflects that. One Yahoo for my trash account.
I have a couple of google accounts and managing the logins is a huge pain for me. I really hope this helps.

Haha, wow. As said above, Hotmail has had this for quuuiiiite a while now.

Hell... it's about time!
VERY good news! Thanks for posting it!
Well right click => new private tab in Opera. As simple as that. FF should have similar feature as well, not sure about other browsers.
Good also for family and friends, and...
