Activision Confirms DJ Hero, Turntable Controller

We know you’ve all been waiting impatiently for DJ Hero.
Activision this morning announced that the company will be releasing DJ Hero, along with Band Hero and Guitar Hero 5, in the Fall.
DJ Hero is said to include "diverse music genres including hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance" as well as the nifty turntable controller below. Endeavoring to "transform players into DJs who rule the club scene by creating original mixes of popular songs and music from the world's most exciting artists and DJs," DJ Hero continues Activision’s Guitar Hero franchise and helping to flog the not-dead-but-definitely-tired horse is the announcement of Guitar Hero Van Halen and Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits.
So what’s the verdict? Is anyone interested in trying DJ Hero? I’d like to try it, but there’s no way I’m buying this thing, I’m happy with Guitar Hero. I’ll probably try and convince one of my friends to get it (a much younger relative would do the trick, too) and then mooch a few minutes of play just to get it out of my system.
No word on pricing yet but we’ll let you know once we get wind of how much Activision announces something.

I've got two turn tables and a microphone.......
Now it's a waiting game for DJ Skribble to come forward and urge kids to do the real thing and not just play the game.
Ugh all these games are so horrible!
having spun a little wax... i dunno how this could werk in a realistic way... it'd be more like a sample board/synth than a turntable emulator..
NEXT Harmonica Hero and Triangle Hero!

More cowbell!
I with you hanin...I just don't see this one panning out. But far be it from me to keep game companies from seeing how far out they can expand on an idea.

Man, that's a mighty polite way of saying "milk it."
Are you kidding me?!
You'll know the series has jumped the shark when we get Guitar Hero Hero: The point and click adventure through the life of a Guitar Hero player!
All these plastic instrument games are lame. I never understood why so many people like them.
We need "Cow Bell Hero".
....um what? How is pushing those buttons even remotely close to spinning a record?
Too bad that this has been out for 12 years. It's called Beatmania but it's too hard for most people. This will probably be much easier and it has a lot more publicity. Pretty much an identical situation with Guitar Freaks and Guitar Hero except Guitar Hero might be more difficult in some cases. I don't remember much about Guitar Freaks.

have you played one?

ROFL.. Thats what I was thinking..
I think you would get more millage out of this thing. My friend has one and it was lots of fun in the win98 days(in other words years before this thing....and you can use ANY track you want).

there is nothing to understand. people play games because they are fun.
these music games are just advanced versions of Simon Says, if you are old enough to remember that toy/game.

Partly I suppose but I was thinking more along the lines of supporting the efforts of trying to innovate within a niche and fill out its boundaries so that when (inevitably) it gets condensed down the best ideas survive and you end up with a superior product/s in general.
Seems to be the right approach to most things to me (within reason of course).
And while I don't like the idea of needing tons of specialized input devices to do it I do like the idea that games are consisently becoming more interactive both socially and in terms of requiring more action from the users.
