Countdown begins for first Aussie Apple Store
For many a US citizen, an Apple store is not an oddity. In fact, with 209 stores worldwide, to most people, an Apple store is nothing to note. What is a little surprising, is that, there is no Apple stores to date in Australia.
We’ve known for a while now that the company had plans to fill this void with three Australian stores in 2008, two in Sydney and one in Victoria. However it was unclear when the first store would open its doors.
Well it looks like the Aussies might not have long to wait. What will be the flagship Apple store in Sydney has unveiled a nice, big, blue “Drop in soon. Apple Store, Sydney” sign in front of the glass façade of a nearly-completed office complex in the heart of the Sydney CBD, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
In what seems similar to the company’s Apple store in Boston, Apple has leased the first three levels of the office building at 77 King Street and according to the development application, each of the levels will have a floor space of about 445 square metres.
The sign begins the countdown to the store’s opening, which rumours claim is scheduled for the 19th of June, however these rumours have yet to be confirmed.
