The world of charging is fast-moving, and while Baseus has been at the forefront of the GaN movement that allows superfast charging in a compact design, the company isn’t slowing down yet. While other brands have received the Qi 2.2 wireless charging certification, Baseus is the first to reveal how it’ll make its way into the company’s products, leading in speed and transparency.
The brand’s latest PicoGo wireless charging products arrive as part of the first wave of Qi 2.2, the latest standard introduced by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC).
Existing wireless chargers offer 15W of charging output, and this new standard raises that to 25W, while also improving magnetic alignment to allow for up to 40% better charging efficiency and enhancing a user’s safety with better foreign object detection.
Baseus’ PicoGo range is back, and will take advantage of the new tech with three new products. The company says it’s looking to continue to “push the boundaries of charging innovation”, and it’s easy to see why.
First, the PicoGo AM61 Magnetic Power Bank has a large, 10,000mAh battery that offers both wireless and wired charging simultaneously, with 25W charging thanks to the new Qi 2.2 standard and 45W for the USB-C connection. Not only does that mean faster charging all around, but it means you can charge two devices, like a phone and tablet, at the same time.
The PicoGo AM52 Ultra-Slim Magnetic Power Bank also has 10,000mAh of charge, but also offers a refined body and strong magnetic hold that makes it easy to attach to, say, an iPhone in your pocket, so it can charge while you’re going about your day. And, as with the AM61, there’s wired charging, too at up to 45W.
The difference between the two power bank offerings can be felt when touching them. The AM61 offers a glossy shell, that makes it feel premium when held, while the AM52 uses an aluminum shell and silicone finish that makes it feel more in line with Apple products.
Finally, there’s a new wireless charger entering the line-up. The PicoGo AF21 Foldable 3-in-1 Wireless Charger features a modular, tri-fold design with Qi 2.2 certification for up to 35W total output while also being portable enough to take on the go. It’s likely to be ideal for anyone doing any travelling, making a handy ‘base station’ for a hotel room or cafe table. It can charge your iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch all at once, but you can leave some components at home if they’re not needed.
The new Qi 2.2 Baseus line-up will arrive in August, and can be ordered via the company’s own storefront. To learn more about Qi2.2, check out Baseus' full guide blog.
