Whether you’re a passionate student completing your education, a new arrival in the workforce looking to progress in your field or a seasoned veteran with an established career, you’ll benefit greatly from having a quality tablet at your side.
Tablets merge the hardware capabilities of laptops with the convenience and portability of mobile smartphones, giving you many of the benefits of both while minimizing their drawbacks. Historically, many of the best tablets have come from Samsung’s Galaxy Tab line — and its latest devices, the Galaxy Tab S12 lineup, are scheduled to release on October 7.
The Galaxy Tab S12 is Samsung’s most advanced tablet yet, and thanks to its high-end specs and major improvements over previous models, all signs point to it being one of the best tablets for work and school. Here are seven ways the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and the S12+ will help your productivity soar.
The rundown
- Samsung’s latest Galaxy tablets, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and the Galaxy Tab S12+, are scheduled to launch on October 7. Prices start at $1,399 and $1,199, respectively.
- The new Galaxy Tab S12 series features significantly improved CPU, GPU and NPU (AI) performance compared to its predecessor. It also has a 20+ hour battery life, an AMOLED 2X 1,600-nit display and a narrow 5.1mm footprint that’s ideal for portability.
- Additionally, the Galaxy Tab S12 series comes with Samsung’s helpful Galaxy AI assistant, a wide range of software programs, preloaded Adobe Photoshop, an included S Pen stylus and more.
It delivers top-notch performance
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 tablets come with a cutting-edge 3nm processor that delivers improvements of up to 19% in CPU, 17% in GPU and a huge 61% in NPU (the processing unit used for powering the onboard AI). Put simply, that translates to excellent performance across a huge variety of productivity tasks, including taking notes, writing in word programs, organizing team projects and performing graphic design and/or CAD work. Even when you’re heavily multitasking, you won’t have to worry about slowdowns or other irksome hiccups.
It brings you powerful AI assistance
Samsung’s onboard Galaxy AI assistant is installed on the Galaxy Tab S12 tablets, and it’s more efficient than ever with the tablet’s supercharged NPU. With just a few taps and a prompt or two, it can quickly and efficiently condense presentations or meetings into neatly summarized notes, transcribe video into text, translate languages and assist you with formatting documents, among other things.
Notably, a six-month trial of Google AI Pro is included with every Galaxy Tab S12 as well, which gives you access to the full capabilities of Gemini whenever you need to search for information or get clarification. There’s also Gemini Notebook, which lets you merge different information sources into one place for easy reading or create custom quizzes to test yourself on what you’re learning.
It’s got reliable all-day battery life
A performant processor and potent AI tools do a lot to bolster work efficiency, but none of that matters if your tablet doesn’t have enough power to make it through a workday. Thankfully, battery life isn’t a concern with Samsung’s new tablets. The S12 Ultra sports a huge 11,600mAh battery that boasts 23 hours of battery life, while the S12+ has a 10,600mAh battery that lasts up to 21 hours on one charge.
It has a gorgeous touchscreen display
A sharp and bright display is also important, especially if you’re a photo or video editor, an artist or planning on working in brightly lit environments. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra comes with a gorgeous 14.6-inch AMOLED 2X panel with rich colors and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, with Vision Booster technology working to adjust the brightness on the fly in response to changing lighting conditions. Note that the S12+ comes with the exact same screen, sized down to 12.6 inches.
It’s got all the best apps available
How about support for and the availability of popular apps and productivity programs? Access to this software is critical. Between everything on Samsung’s Galaxy Store and the Google Play Store, these tablets will give you access to the best Android software you can dream of.
On top of that, the S12 tablets come preloaded with Adobe Photoshop and provide an exclusive four-month trial for industry-leading photo editing capabilities. They also come with Notability — a collection of widely enjoyed note-taking tools — as well as Clip Studio Paint, Goodnotes, LumaFusion and Notion. This all amounts to about $600 worth of benefits, which is fantastic value.
Its design is thin and light
One of the biggest advantages that tablets have over laptops is that they’re exceptionally thin and lightweight, making them even easier to carry around while going about your day. That portability allows you to work or study whenever you’re able to find the time, whether that’s while you’re enjoying time outdoors, riding the bus or grabbing a bite to eat.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ are just 5.1mm and 5.3mm thick, respectively, with the former weighing 695g and the latter weighing 555g. That’s remarkably compact and airy, and it doesn’t compromise durability — with an IP68 rating, both tablets feature stellar water and dust resistance.
It can be paired with excellent accessories
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S12 tablets can be paired with a handful of nifty accessories made by the manufacturer, expanding their versatility and functionality. One such accessory, the S Pen stylus, is included with every purchase and enables artists and notetakers to draw beautifully and write cleanly using the tablet’s high-quality touchscreen.
If you’d like to do some traditional typing, there’s also Samsung’s Pro Keyboard or Book Cover Keyboard Slim that transform the Galaxy Tab S12 into a convertible laptop, which is ideal whenever you’re working at a table or a desk for extended periods of time. These keyboards even come with a dedicated Galaxy AI key for easy access, helping you put your AI assistant to work the moment you have a task to assign it.
Elevate your productivity to new heights with Galaxy Tab S12
No matter what work you’re doing, having a capable and dependable tablet at your side will significantly boost your efficiency, enabling you to learn more effectively, finish tasks faster and more. With their top-tier performance and AI features, lengthy battery life, striking high-resolution displays and ultraportable designs, Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S12 tablets are expected to be some of the best tablets for work when they launch on October 7. If you’re in the market for a new tablet, don’t overlook these.
