Half-price NBN deal alert: save up to AU$336 on Origin's 500Mbps plan this June

As an NBN writer, I know a thing or two about good broadband deals, and this impressive offer from Origin currently takes the cake in terms of good value.

Origin is a brand that’s synonymous with energy, solar and now even electric vehicles in Australia, but its NBN plans are increasingly gaining a favourable reputation among customers. Origin's NBN plans generally carry premium price tags, although if you have an energy service with Origin, then you can take advantage of a bundle discount to save an ongoing AU$10 per month on your internet bill.

Even if you’re not an existing Origin customer, however, the provider's new EOFY NBN discounts deserve your attention – they’re undeniably some of the best this tax season, slashing 50% off plan prices for the first six months of service. That means you can pay as little as AU$56p/m for the speedy and increasingly popular NBN 500 tier, which is gradually taking over from the significantly slower NBN 50 as Australia's favourite broadband option.

NBN 500 is gaining favour in larger households, especially for families with multiple devices, as according to NBN Co, it can accommodate 4K streaming across 10 or more devices, lag-free online gaming and smooth video calls — all at the same time. What's even more impressive is that most NBN 500 plans cost the same as NBN 100 ones, but provide 5x the speed — the only caveat is that you need to have either an FTTP (fibre to the premises) or HFC (hybrid fibre coax) connection type.

NBN 500 is also our top recommendation if you’re after an all-rounder internet plan in 2026, and this Origin deal saves you a massive AU$336 on its 500Mbps plan over the first half year, after which it’s priced at AU$112 a month (or AU$102 if you have an Origin energy service). Origin's plan can also earn you 2,500 Woolworths Rewards Points, and the service works on a no-lock in contract basis, meaning you can cancel at any time. Do note that you'll need to act relatively fast to secure Origin's NBN 500 deal — this half-off discount offer ends on June 30, 2026.

Of course, the speed tiers you can access is dependent on your home’s NBN connection type, so if you have FTTN/C and want an NBN 500 or faster connection, you'll need to check if you qualify for NBN Co's free fibre upgrade offer first. Thankfully, Origin can help you with that too — simply check your eligibility on Origin's website, order a high-speed plan, and the telco will organise the FTTP upgrade on your behalf. All you need to do is make sure you’re available when the scheduled NBN technicians come knocking to connect you up.

As I mentioned in the deal block above, if you need one, you can also optionally score a free Amazon eero 7 or TP-Link modem-router with Origin's plans — but note that it does come with a couple of requirements. Primarily, you'll need to stay connected for at least 24 months and also pay a AU$20 delivery fee. If you decide to cancel your Origin NBN service before 24 months are up, you'll need to pay AU$12.45p/m for the eero 7 or AU$7p/m for the TP-Link for any remaining months as a lump sum. Using the eero as an example, if you cancelled after one month you’d need to pay a one-time fee of AU$286.35.
