File Format Compatibility
2. File Format Compatibility
Since they run the same chip, the Rapsody and the Mvix are both capable of playing the following file types.
Video
DivX® (3/4/5 including HD resolutions) AVI, Xvid MPEG (1,2,4) DVD (VOB, IFO, ISO) WMV-9 including HD resolutions TP, TS (HD MPEG2 Transport Stream)Audio
MP3 WMA AAC OGG PCMIts worth mentioning that Sigma chips are not capable of decoding Apple Quicktime files or DVR-MS files. (DVR-MS is an MPEG-based file format produced by Microsoft's Windows Media Center software.) If you're planning on using Windows Media Center to record your HD content, keep in mind that the files will have to be converted into a compatible file type before they can be played on a Sigma-based player. DVR-MS files are notoriously difficult to work with. If you don't have your heart set on using Windows Media Center, I recommend using recording software that produces a friendlier file type, such as Snapstream's Beyond TV. In addition to producing easy to use recordings, Beyond TV has some incredible automatic file compression features that will save you a lot of hard drive space with a minimal amount of setup.
