Headphones Concept Matches Visuals With Music

These headphones treat its own headband as a dynamic OLED display

Design concept: a pair of wireless Transparent OLED headphones that allow dynamic visuals. The plan is to provide full customization for the wearer, from displaying audio visualizations, marquee text, album art, moving images, or a "color groove" mode that cycles through the color spectrum to simply setting the headband to show a solid for an understated appearance.

The actual earpieces are padded with foam, and cover the entire ear for maximum audio isolation. The power button is at the center of the right earpiece, surrounded by a touch-sensitive circle that lets the user control the settings for the color groove mode. When set to show nothing, the headband becomes completely transparent.

Even if someone manages to engineer all those features into the limited confines of this wireless gadget concept—including space for a reasonable amount of battery capacity—would anyone go for these transparent OLED headphones? The whole point of the dynamic visuals is probably to call attention to yourself; lots of audiophiles want to be left alone while enjoying their music. Maybe these headphones would have been a hit at the long-dead rave scene?
