1. Portable Speaker Systems For Audio Players

How We Test

First of all, we listen to a great variety of music. We listen to the different speakers at the same time and we put them on the most similar settings so we can compare. Then we test them one after the other. We switch the inputs in order to track the difference in real time. We also have a look at features, settings and how the systems are powered.

Speakers that used to target iPods and other Mp3 players can now be used with some phones, too.

Many of us have our whole music collection on our audio player, be it one with a hard drive or with flash memory. When commuting or jogging, a headset is all you need, but when it comes to sharing music at home, for example, a speaker system comes in handy.

Portability, design, batteries etc…

Many of these mini-speakers work with batteries but can also be plugged in a wall. Most of them are made specifically with the iPod in mind and have a docking system that will welcome the device. The iPod will charge when the system is plugged in. Those who have non-Apple players are not left behind, as these systems always have an auxiliary mini jack input.

With a compact model–-designed for portability and running on batteries--there will obviously be a compromise on sound quality (even more so if you have to use mini jack and not a dedicated dock) but some of the products we tested managed to surprise us.
