iPhone To Get Third Party Copy/Paste Application?

- By - Source : Tom's Guide

A couple of weeks ago we were talking about the 3G iPhone in the office, weighing up the pros and cons. One of our senior editors said he felt the iPhone was lopsided and the fact that the iPhone had no MMS, no copy/paste and only a 2MP camera meant the handset was, in a way, neutered: Seriously powerful in some ways, terribly limited in others.

There isn’t much you can do about the 2 MP camera or the media messaging, however one developer has come up with a copy/paste application for the JesusPhone that could make users’ lives a little easier.

Reports are doing the rounds about a copy/paste function from software developer Proximi, and it’s pending approval status for the Apps store, so it looks like we could see the copy/paste function Apple fans have been demanding really soon.

MagicPad is really similar to the notes tool that iPhone users are already familiar with with a few notable differences: upport for rich text fonts like itallics, underlined text, different colour fonts and of course, the star of the show, copy/pasting. A trial video from AppleiPhoneApps.com shows of the functions of MagicPad, however while the demonstrator boasts the application’s ease of use, selecting text seems a little finicky and probably takes a little getting used to.

Developers at Proximi spoke to AppleiPhoneApps and said that due to limitations within the iPhone SDK, MagicPad currently only supports functionality within its own application, however Proximi has tested its solution for usability against other apps and demos should be available on the developer’s website soon.

What are your thoughts on this new application? Many people believe that Apple is unlikely to allow an independent developer step up to the plate when it comes to a feature users have been asking from the iPhone since day one. What do you reckon Proximi’s odds are with regard to getting approved for the Apps Store?

This app only works in itself, it's not going to work outside of that because of the sandbox design of the SDK. So basically this app is worthless :P. So to awnser your questions, Apple will have to release it ;).

pssh...jesusphone. So tired of hearing that one. I want to throw one of these little pieces of crap in a pool and see if it can even float, let alone walk.
