19. Effect Powerplay Settings On Battery Life

We show you how Powerplay affects the battery rundown time with the Inspiron 9100 by using two different application scenarios:

In order to put a continuous and high load on the CPU, we ran four game scenes from 3D Mark 2001SE in an infinite loop until the battery ran down. In order to put a relatively light load on the graphics processor and CPU on average, thus simulating office applications, we ran a presentation in an infinite loop until the battery ran out of juice.

Measurements were made several times with three different Powerplay settings.

It is also interesting to look at the power consumption during the tests: under gaming conditions , values went as high as 162 Watts , while with office applications the highest value was barely 83 Watts on average. In idle mode, the value also remained below 83 Watts (measurements were taken mostly from the power supply).
