Report: Samsung Nexus Two Coming November 8
Yesterday we heard rumors about a Nexus Two from Motorola hitting before Christmas, and now we have reports of a Samsung-built Nexus Two launching on November 8.
Earlier in the week, Samsung revealed that it would be launching a new Android device at a November 8 event in New York City. Today Android and Me is reporting that this event is actually the launch of the Nexus Two, the successor to Google's HTC-built Nexus One, which was launched earlier this year.
Citing multiple sources (all anonymous) Android and Me reports that the Nexus Two will ship with Gingerbread (aka Android 2.3) and will launch in time for the holidays. Specs, pricing, carrier and release date remain to be seen but considering Samsung's impressive Galaxy S line-up, we've got pretty high hopes.
This rumor comes after similar reports that said Motorola would be building the Nexus Two. The company said earlier this year that one of its 2010 Android phones would be a direct-to-consumer phone for Google. This week, London-based newspaper City-AM cited an anonymous source in reporting that Motorola would ship the Nexus Two before the end of the year. However, this report also indicated that previous rumors about a Samsung-built Nexus Two were inaccurate. Whatever happens, we'll be at the Samsung event in NYC so we'll be sure to keep you posted on this one.
Would you rather see a Nexus Two from Samsung, which has the awesome Galaxy S line in its Android repertoire, or from Motorola, which is home to the ever-impressive DROID line of smartphones? Let us know in the comments below!

i just want it released on verizon
same here.... and, in my opinion, the droid is a step above the galaxy S, but just my opinion. The Nexus was given to HTC last time, and i think that Samsung will do a very good job on this smartphone. While the Galaxy S is nice, it doesnt have the Awe of a Droid. By the way, i had a Nexus, and went back and got a Galaxy S after about a year... I am not a Droid fanboy....
Well given that motorolla's entire droid line up debuted on Verizon and there is a Galaxy S there as well, I think you should be ok
I am just glad I am happy with my HTC Incredible, otherwise I would have serious phone envy haha
I'd prefer Samsung solely for the Hummingbird processor over the Snapdraggon.
well, a phone whose hardware is from samsung, software from HTC, and a camera from sony ericsson.
Imagine sense UI on top of the superamoled screen, and an 8 or 12 mp snapper.
Just dreaming.
I just hope they don't have another UI covering up the Android one. I must say, I've used most of the UI's, excluding droid unfortunately, and I greatly prefer my Nexus One for its simplicity.
Also, I'm REALLY pulling for a Tegra chipset.
I love the screen on the Galaxy S... but It burns so much battery. If they could make them more power efficient than I'd say Samsung, otherwise I'd say Motorola.
Samsung FTW
I have the galaxy S I9000
actually its pretty hard to drain the battery in a single day..
but the screen quality is worth it..
you should have it to feel the difference
after my Galaxy S, I will not buy any phones without S-AMOLED
Bring SAMOLED, a SoC based on Cortex A9, 1Gbyte of memory and a metal cover and I'm in.
I have the i897 Galaxy S (Captivate) rooted with Cognition 2.2 (Froyo) Beta7. I have to say I agree with a few others and hope that it doesn't come with Touch-Wiz. It really slows down the phone and you don't notice untill you install a custom ROM. I am interested in seeing what Samsung cooks up in their new line.
@The Greater Good
I think 1 of the basic criteria to win the Nexus bad are about agreeing to only make the phone MINUS any sort of custom/house UI skins so you're well covered there.
This is very unfortunate considering how buggy the Samsung Captivate phone is. The Captivate has a very serious and widespread hardware bug that causes it to randomly power off about 20-30 min after the screen shuts off. The phone acts as though the battery were pulled. Instead of fixing the problem Samsung has chosen to pretend that it doesn't exist.
If this is the build quality that one can expect from Samsung then it seems like the Nexus Two will be even worse than the buggy HTC Nexus One.
They're releasing it too early. They should've given N1 at least a year. But that's just my opinion...

Sweet. Thanks for the heads-up!
Galaxy S i9000 owner here too. Most badass phone I have ever owned. Yea I do carry a second battery though. Plays all my games like lightning. The Power VR 540 Gpu quickly spoils you. Good job google!
A Samsung Nexus Two would be pretty good, actually. They make good hardware.
I have owned a nexus once since release and have never had any problems with it being buggy, The only issues I even heard of were 3g on
Should have stuck with HTC. Samsung Galazy phones are cheap plastic and look/feel like overpriced toys.
Sure the graphics are great on the Galaxy phones but the processor is not all that, in fact it is inferior to the qualcomm designs.
Best choice would have been a HTC phone with the qualcomm MSM8255 and Adreno 205 graphics (much much better than the 200)
I personally prefer htc (much) over Samsung. But Samsung does make some good phones though, I admit it. I just hate Samsung products, that's all.

One of the reasons I replaced my Nexus One phone with a Samsung Captivate phone was because I got static on phone calls when using a bluetooth headset while browsing the web with WiFi. This problem happened with both Eclair and Froyo (only stock builds were used). My phone was sitting next to my hand on a table. Unfortunately my Samsung Captivate had a similar, but much worse problem. About 2 weeks after I started using the Captivate it would rapidly start switching between WiFi and 3G while on a phone call with a bluetooth headset. Then I would get static and then the call would drop. Sometimes the Captivate would even power off completely. It acted as though the battery had been pulled (it was still in the phone and fully charged). I exchanged my Captivate for a replacement one today so time will tell if the problem shows up again. My LG CU500 phone had no problems whatsoever making phone calls with a bluetooth headset. There's no reason that a smartphone with bleeding edge hardware can't have the same call quality as a low end flip phone.

There are very few differences between the Hummingbird processor and the Snapdragon processor used in the Nexus One phone. They both have virtually identical speed. The Samsung Captivate phone has a metal chassis and a screen made with gorilla glass. How is this cheap quality?

Are you talking about the Galaxy S or the Captivate?

I'm talking about the Captivate, but all Galaxy S phones are supposed to have a gorilla glass screen. The Captivate is the only USA version of the Galaxy S phone that has a metal chassis. All Galaxy S phones have the same 1GHz Hummingbird processor.
