Automower Mows the Grass While You Sleep
An environmentally-friendly lawnmower that's perfect for lazy bums!
Presenting the latest in lawnmower technology: Husqvarna's Automower Color Collection takes design cues from Earth's elements. Available colors are brown for the earth, orange to represent fire, white to symbolize the air, and blue to signify water.

A "heart" version (red?) would've satisfied Captain Planet fans, but there's no faulting the Automower's functionality. Powered completely by a nickel-metal hydride battery and automatically directed by boundary wires placed under the grass, Automower will appease greenheads and lazy bums alike.

Each variant of the Automower draws power from your typical wall socket, while the highest-end Solar Hybrid version also grabs juice from the Sun. Larger gardens will require several Automowers working in tandem. All Automowers work in the rain (standing water over three inches may enter and damage the unit), and on uneven lawns. What more can you ask for?

Well, money. The low-end Automower 210 C covers "only" 0.15 acres, weighs 20 pounds, and will set you back by at least $1300. The kingly 230 ACX has five times the coverage, is 3.6 pounds heavier, and retails for $2700. The 0.6 acre Solar Hybrid costs $3000. All are available from Husqvarna's retail site.

The Color Collection is available from Normann Copenhagen, according to MoCoLoco.

.15 acres is about 607 square meters. I wonder how this thing copes with hills. If I come into some money it might be worth it not to have to haul my existing mower back and forth on the slope I have (it is less than the 35% the specs state it can handle).
Hmm, needs to empty itself
"Honey, where's the cat?"
Can't imagine having peace of mind with my lawnmower working unsupervised in the garden. How does it deal with curious (read stupid) animals and kids that come too close for comfort? All the same at least you could sit back with a beer and just keep an eye on it
"Honey, where's the cat?"
Honey the neighbor is asking if we have seen their kid, have you seen their.. OMFG look honey~ our back yard~~!
Too bad I live in an apartment!
This thing would be stolen faster than an unsupervised diamond encrusted iPod at my house.
'just' 0.15 acres? My garden is barely 5 square meters. Obviously, I won't be buying this.
Also, don't leave unsupervised, as people say: it will be stolen
Hack OS, install wifi, add camera - go hunting. Much better than Roomba.
The only really environmentally friendly lawnmowers are the ones powered by the human, no electricity/gas required. It's annoying when every bloody new gadget is marketed as "green" when clearly that is BS.
I would even bet that a standard electric mower (with cable) is greener than this, after you take into account all the extra circuits and battery needed in this vs a very simple electric motor.
Cows will mow your lawn for free and even give you milk and cow poop for free.
What if it fails to detect that boundary wire? Will it carry on, auto-mowing random pedestrians and stuff?
So are we going to dish out tax credits on this too?
/sick of green propaganda
I'm out!
Well, until it picks up the piles of dog crap that are too small to get hit by the blades, yet big enough to stink up a whole room in the house if stepped in.
So are we going to dish out tax credits on this too?/sick of green propaganda
That's a good idea. I'm heading down to town hall right now to suggest it. If I can get one or two of these FATC(free after tax credit) I wouldn't mind having them.
dogkiller.
What, no lojack?
You win bonus points for the "Captain Planet" reference.
Ahh...captain planet, the ted turner propaganda show.
Where do people think the energy comes from to charge a battery from a wall socket? It's not magic.
(I am of course not talking about the solar powered model)
yaaawn... that was a good nap... O_O
WHERE IS THE DAMN THING??? SOMEONE STOLE IT!!
"Honey, where's the cat?"
Honey, where's the lawn mower robot?
This is an old idea. They had something like this out a few years ago that looked like a green bug and came standard with solar panels.
this thing will turn on you. when your sleeping it will go around mowing other lawns for money lol
I'd rather lure some geese, or perhaps a goat.
So are we going to dish out tax credits on this too?/sick of green propaganda
Shut the **** up. Even when there is an obvious benefit to a product that ISN'T green (it's automated dammit) idiots like you STILL chime in with your insane right wing bull****
