Cyber Monday Nintendo Switch deals: What to expect in 2021

The Nintendo Switch may be nearing its fifth birthday, but it's managed to keep a fairly stable price since launch due to consumer demand never really wavering. Every year tens of millions of gamers pick up a unit, giving Nintendo very little incentive to significantly drop the price.

However, it did receive its first proper price cut last month in Europe. This price cut hasn’t been mirrored in the US yet, but it could be a sign that Nintendo is going to be willing to offer more substantial savings on the Nintendo Switch during the Cyber Monday period.

In previous years, Cyber Monday Nintendo Switch deals have offered the console bundled together with a game or accessory, rather than a direct discount on the machine. We expect to see that approach replicated again this year. Although, the console standalone should still get at least a few dollars knocked off.

The cheaper Nintendo Switch Lite has a long track record of being discounted even outside of major sales events, though the best deals are normally reserved for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Expect the handheld gaming device to be dropped in price and potentially bundled with a couple of Nintendo Switch games as well.

The biggest discounts are almost certainly to be seen on Nintendo Switch software and accessories. Nintendo is notorious for being fairly stubborn when it comes to offering discounts on their first-party games, but we've already seen some heavy hitters like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate be reduced by as much as $20 ahead of Cyber Monday. Accessories like carrying cases, extra controllers, and screen protectors have also been discounted already.

Cyber Monday Nintendo Switch Deals: Nintendo Switch OLED

Throwing a slight spanner in the works this year is the Nintendo Switch OLED. This upgraded version of the regular Nintendo Switch launched in October for $349 and has been out of stock pretty much everywhere since.

Chasing Nintendo Switch OLED restocks has become a daily occurrence for many desperate to get their hands on a unit before the holiday season. For this reason, we definitely don't expect any discounts or offers on the Nintendo Switch OLED during Cyber Monday 2021. Put plainly, the console is too new and too popular for that.

It's not all bad news. We do expect to see at least a handful of retailers take fresh orders of the console around the Cyber Monday sales period. This could be one of the last opportunities to snag one before Christmas, so if you're hoping to get one for gifting you'll need to be vigilant.
