The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 delivers an upskilling upgrade
This tablet supports your learning in a thin, lightweight package
We all know it can be hard to find the time to learn anything when you're already busy with work. You may have an online course you want to finish, a certification you're currently working on or a skill you've been wanting to explore, but fitting that into your schedule isn't always easy.
A lightweight tablet can make those smaller moments more useful. You can carry it to a coffee shop, use it at home or take it with you when you're away from your desk, so you can keep working without being tied to one location.
Samsung's Galaxy Tab S12 series features the tools to keep learning even when you're not in your usual workspace. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ combine thin designs, large displays, powerful hardware, long battery life, AI features and a range of apps and accessories.
The S12 tablets give you more than a portable form factor. You can use them to learn, review information and put the new skills into practice.
The rundown
- The lightweight, thin design of the Galaxy Tab S12 series helps you fit learning into a busy schedule with large displays, powerful performance and long battery life.

- The supported apps let you practice what you've learned with tools such as Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, LumaFusion, Notion, GoodNotes, Notability and hundreds more.

A lightweight tablet for learning anywhere
The Galaxy Tab S12 series is designed to help you make the most of your time.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is just 5.1mm thick and has a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The Galaxy Tab S12+ is 5.3mm thick and has a 12.6-inch display.
These devices provide the canvas you need, but you don't have to leave them on your desk.
Similar to a traditional computer, the large displays are useful for multitasking. You can keep a document open alongside another app, compare details or use multiple windows without constantly switching between apps.
The displays can reach up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness, while the Vision Booster feature changes the screen brightness based on lighting conditions. This means that you can use the tablet comfortably in different environments.
The hardware packed into these devices can handle more demanding AI tasks.
The Galaxy Tab S12 series uses a 3nm processor architecture, which, according to Samsung, improves processor, graphics and AI performance when compared to the previous generation. For instance, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra delivers up to 19% higher processor performance, 17% higher graphics performance and 61% higher Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performance than the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra.
You won't notice these numbers while reading content, but the performance will make a difference when you're running multiple apps or working with more demanding tasks, including AI.
Battery life is also important when you're trying to make the most of your time. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra packs an 11,600mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ has a smaller 10,600mAh battery, so you can spend more time working and less time looking for an outlet.
Furthermore, these tablets have an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance for added peace of mind when you're carrying them around.
AI can make limited study time more productive
The challenge isn't only finding the time, but also making the most of it.
The Galaxy Tab S12 series brings AI into that process through features designed to help you work with information. Samsung Notes can capture anything you're working on, while Note Assist can summarize and organize your notes.
Gemini can also get answers and explore ideas as you work. Instead of stopping to search with another tool, you can use AI alongside the material you're already working with.
The Samsung browser can summarize content across tabs and surface relevant sources. This can be useful when you're researching and have several tabs open.
AI isn't there to do the learning for you. Instead, it's there to handle some of the work around the learning process, giving you more time to understand the content.
Samsung is also bundling its devices with six months of Google AI Pro, giving you access to additional AI tools and models.
Gemini Notebook brings your learning content together
When you start the learning process, the information can grow and get messy quickly, making it more difficult to manage.
You may have a book in a PDF format, recorded lectures, research notes, screenshots, images and files scattered across different places. Organizing all that content can take time away from learning.
Samsung's Gemini Notebook can organize and bring that content together. You can collect different types of information in one place and then use AI to work with it. You can then ask questions about the content, compare details, find connections and create summaries.
You can also use the same content to create podcasts and quizzes, which gives you a different way to test your knowledge.
This approach works well for short study sessions. You can add content when you have time and come back to it later to continue where you left off.
Apps give you a way to go hands-on with new skills
A new skill is only useful if you can put what you have learned into practice.
This is where the Samsung selection of third-party apps comes in. The company says that its ecosystem includes hundreds of apps that can turn the tablet into a more capable productivity tool. You have options for everything from digital illustration and painting to organizing notes and files for research. There are even apps that can turn your sketches into precise CAD drawings.
Of course, these apps are for specific use cases. However, the benefit is having the options as your needs change. For example, you may start by learning a new topic and eventually shift to a creative or technical app to practice the skill.
Samsung says that the Galaxy Tab S12 series also includes professional apps and exclusive benefits worth approximately $600.
The S Pen and keyboard can change how you work
The Galaxy Tab S12 series comes bundled with the S Pen, giving you another way to interact with the tablets.
With the S Pen, you can annotate content, sketch ideas, work through equations and take quick notes. In addition, the same pen can then become a creative tool when you're using artistic apps.
When work calls for more typing, Samsung also offers the Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim, which can convert the tablet into a more traditional desktop experience. The Pro Keyboard even includes a dedicated key for quick access to the Galaxy AI assistants.
Samsung DeX takes the idea further with a more desktop-like workspace. You can create up to four customizable workspaces, giving you a different canvas for different projects.
Make the time you have more useful
The time needed to learn a new professional skill isn't always measured in hours. Sometimes, it's about making the most of smaller windows.
The Galaxy Tab S12 series brings multiple time-saving features into one device. The lightweight hardware makes it easier to take your work with you, AI helps you process and organize what you're learning and third-party apps help you practice what you have learned.
With these tablets, you can a course in the morning, organize content during a break and practice using Photoshop, LumaFusion, Clip Studio Paint or another app later in the day.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ will be available in gray and silver starting October 7 in select markets. The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at $1,399, while the Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at $1,199.
