The second statement in the next chart asks about creating personal content for others to see. However, it does not ask the participant whether or not they were actual ’broadcasters’ of this content. The media this group reported creating (Web sites , photos, videos, music and blogs) was content that others can get by visiting a site or sites, and differed in the extent of distribution.

Internet Activities (Summary of Frequently/Occasionally)
1st Edition %2nd Edition %Millennials %Xers %Boomers %Matures %
Watching/listening to content created by others (Web sites, photos, videos, music and blogs)526986736440

The growing trend towards creating and viewing user generated content was only one of many interesting findings. The cell phone is rapidly becoming much more than a cell phone - it’s a camera, a method for text messaging, a platform for playing games, and an entertainment platform. For the entire population surveyed, 20% reported that they use a cellphone daily or almost daily to view video content. Playing music on a cellphone was another important use to most groups included in the study.
