The Latitude X1's display is fairly bright with acceptable contrast and it is easy to read. This is true whether the display is set for the maximum wide screen resolution of 1280 x 768 or the non-wide screen resolution of 1024 x 768. At 1260 x 768 the X1 is a good choice for both day-to-day office applications and DVD viewing using the X1's optional dedicated DVD/CD player-recorder.

The Latitude X1 has a good compliment of connectors. Here's a quick graphical rundown.

On the left side from left to right: power jack, VGA monitor connector, USB connector (USB connector and jack above are used to connect an external DVD/CD drive or a disk drive), IEEE 1394 (Firewire) connector, microphone and headphone inputs.

On the right side from left to right: Compact Flash II card slot, USB connector, RJ-45 LAN connector, RJ-11 modem connector.

On the front from left to right: SD card slot, function indicator lights.
