Navigon officially presented its new 8110 personal navigation device at CeBIT. The display is a large 4.8" widescreen, with a nice metal frame that differentiates its look from that of competing products. The Navigon 8110 has a built-in TMC Pro module with free of charge traffic congestion information, and features voice recognition technology that makes it possible to select menu items and enter addresses by talking to the device.
The Navigon 8110 in "panorama" mode shows a 3D scenario instead of a flat map
Another interesting feature is the Panorama View3D. When selected, it shows a semi-realistic three-dimensional image, instead of the usual flat map. This is one of the first approaches to real 3D rendering of routes, though we are still very far away from realistic imagery.
As with other modern GPS units, the Navigon 8110 helps drivers to avoid wrong turns on highways and fast roads, using Reality View Pro and Lane Assistant Pro technologies, as you can see in pictures below.

The device is also a multimedia player for images and MP3 files, a Bluetooth hands-free set, and has an FM transmitter to listen to navigation advice on your car radio.
The Navigon 8110 is priced at $688, and will be available at the end of April 2008.
