Alec Baldwin Kicked Off Flight Helps "Words with Friends"
Zynga app 'Words with Friends' is enjoying a boost in popularity thanks to Alec Baldwin.
You might have heard last week that Alec Baldwin was recently kicked off of an American Airlines flight for playing Words with Friends on his cell phone when he wasn't supposed to be. The story goes that Baldwin was playing the word game on his phone while the plane was idling at the gate and was eventually removed because he refused to turn off his cell phone when the flight attended requested he do so. According to CBS, a crew member told the NY Post that Baldwin became violent and aggressive towards staff. Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin himself says that he was singled out and that plenty of other passengers were also using their phones while the aeroplane was at the gate.
Regardless of who is right and who is wrong, it seems Zynga and Words with Friends are enjoying a nice little boost thanks to the incident. Zynga wouldn't comment on specific numbers, but the Washington Post cites AppData in reporting that over the last seven days, 200,000 people started playing Words with Friends via Facebook with 100,000 of them starting the day after the Alec incident. Zynga may not be talking numbers publicly, but the company was more than happy to pay tribute to Baldwin via its Facebook page:
"Word of the day: ALEC (adj.) Typically associated with "smart" as its prefix to refer to a wise guy, or smarty. Worth at least 8 points! This one goes to the smart ALECs out there – playing our game at the risk of getting in trouble!"
Baldwin's spokesperson confirmed his love of the game in a statement reported by CBS News:
"He loves 'Words with Friends' so much that he was willing to leave a plane for it," said Matthew Hiltzik.

Well I had never heard of it until Alec got thrown off the plane. I figured if Alec thinks it was worth getting thrown off the plane over, then it is probably worth a shot. Downloaded on my Android device a couple of days ago and love it.
wow the news is really slow on this website. this was happened in the middle of the week
"Alec Baldwin himself says that he was singled out and that plenty of other passengers were also using their phones while the aeroplane was at the gate. "
May be other passenger at least pretend to turn off/turn to airplane mode on their phone?
"requested the flight attended requested he do so"
all these so called super stars need are reality check and fast, before they get themselves killed

Did you read the article? The first sentence clearly mentions that the incident happened last week. This story isn't about the original incident, it's about the increase in interest towards Zynga's app as a result of the publicity that was created since.
"requested the flight attended requested he do so"
Whoops, thanks! Should be all fixed now.
No such thing as bad publicity.
He's a nut-ball anyway.....
Just another dumb liberal for ya.
Yo Alex........get your self a copy of Battlefield 3 or crysis and step up to adult gaming......gee wizzz
ALEC is worth 1+1+1+3 points = 6 points, not 8.
[citation]but the Washington Post cites AppData in reporting that over the last seven days, 200,000 people started playing Words with Friends...[/citation]
...most of whom were sitting in an idle plane on the runway.
there's a child inside every adult and i'm not talking about being pregnant
His skit on SNL this week was great, He Played the pilot of the flight he was kicked off of and apologized to himself on behalf of all of American Airlines.
Baldwin is a just another liberal douch-bag.
he wasn't thrown off the plane for playing WWF, he was thrown off the plane for using an electronic device that could interfere with the operation of the plane.
But can he play Crysis?
Alec should totally host next year Video game Awards show!
On Words With Friends ALEC would be 1+2+1+4=8.
ALEC is worth 1+1+1+3 points = 6 points, not 8.
Too bad they didn't wait until they were at altitude to throw him off the plane...
Anybody would behave themselves in this situation. Me thinks a large sum of cash from Zynga is involved.
Too bad for him..But me I am also addicted words with friends games..I did download on my phone because I really love to play the game.I have always used the Anagrammer with great results.
Hey I am also addicted of that game but Alec knows that he's on board so he should not do that..I love playing this game with my sister..We also use the ANAGRAMMER if we are having a hard time..
I LOOOOVE this game, it is easily my favorite iPhone game. I also am a Huge fan of Hangin’ with Friends, another extremely addictive games. I also use the ANAGRAMMER to give me more hints..
