$49,500 smartphone Runs on Android
Is it the world's first luxury phone to use Google's Android OS?
Although this particular smartphone was originally announced last year, it seems that Ulysse Nardin's Chairman luxury device is ditching Windows Mobile for Google's Android. According to Unwired View, this might actually be the world's first luxury device sporting Google's mobile OS, and will feature an impressive price range between $12,800 and $49,500, depending on the glitz.
On a hardware level, the device comes in five flavors, however all five use a kinetic power system that can generate additional electrical power for the battery. All models come packed with an ARM-based Freescale i.MX processor, 32 GB of internal memory, an 8-MP camera, a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, fingerprint recognition, and more.
The smartphone also boasts a "extensive gaming ability," and for that price, it should. However good luck in landing AAA titles from the Android Market. There are only a handful of really decent titles, none of which seem to take advantage of the latest Android-based hardware.
For more details on the smartphone, a PDF can be found here. All other parties with $49,500 to blow on this device can pre-order here.

WOW. A little much for a phone!
WOW. A little much for a phone!
a little much for any personal electronic device.
I's have to win the lottery.
That's just crazy
none of which seem to take advantage of the latest Android-based hardware
------------------
It is not a question of not wanting to take advantage. Android sux as a platform. Opengl is not even native. Well it was just introduced.. and on top of that there is device fragmentation!!!
I can see someone out there spending money on the mechanical-only phone that was posted a while back... But this? This luxury device only has the "cool factor" of being obsolete within three years.
at least there seem to be some decent specs. its not just a jewel with buttons..
would never buy one though.
All little much?
With that much money, it's enough to get a downpayment for a house! F-ing rich people...
a wise man once said that a smartphone is only as smart as its user.
lolz
My computer Runs on Windows
interesting but then again, smart rich people wont spend money on this and rather invest the 50K on something that brings about profit... thats how usually got rich anyways...
I would rather have the nexus 1
I wonder how much more it would've been without a contract?
They spent too much on hardware, hence the use of a free OS.
3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen
and has a keypad, massive much.
50K= 71.4 ATI 5970's=100000 FPS in Crysis
Ugly phone. Unless you're 10.
Does it come with a car? Was it gifted from on high by the gods themselves...I would pay 50K to meet the person that bought this...simply so I could as "Why?"
Thats insanely ridiculous! I thought my droid was expensive at $600 (with no contract) and this blows it out of the water.
What does this mean..."all five use a kinetic power system that can generate additional electrical power for the battery"?Um isn't the battery suppose to be the one generating the power?
kinetic energy is the energy of motion, Im assuming that means it charges the phone while you walk.
