AI video generation has been around for a couple of years, but it’s often been confined to a series of compromises. Shorter lengths, low-resolution output, and inconsistent results have meant it’s not spread as quickly as many budding filmmakers would have expected.

Thankfully, Kling AI’s new Kling 4.0 offers a product that’s much closer to what an industrial, production-ready studio would offer, but it does so while also being easier to adjust and bend to your creative will than ever before.

Kling 4.0 could be a watershed moment for AI video generation

Kling 4.0 goes above what’s offered by many contemporaries by focusing on motion. One of the telltale signs of an AI-generated video project has been motion that feels as though the cameraman is running on a treadmill, and Kling 4.0, launching this month, smooths that out.

Speaking of a cameraman (or camera drone), Kling 4.0 offers much more stable tracking and orbit shots, and will more accurately track during larger, high-speed motion sequences. So, if you’ve ever wanted to put yourself in an action movie or a cartoon, this is the way to do it.

And, if you’ve ever seen an AI video where a character is shown and their face changes in the next shot, you’ll be pleased to know that Kling 4.0 helps models remain the same throughout a project, removing some of that dreamlike inconsistency. Those models also have improved body language and more lifelike facial expressions, allowing for more nuanced scenes that show real emotion. It feels as though it’s working through a wishlist of features that creators wanted improved, but also for editors, too.

Built for the Edit suite

When it comes to getting your project into the editing suite, Kling 4.0 makes that much easier, too. It has support for 10-bit HDR at 4K and 1080p resolutions, and a 21:9 theatrical aspect ratio. That means richer colors, a wider dynamic range, smoother gradients, and, above all else, it means Kling 4.0’s output is much closer to your original artistic intent.

You can generate thirty seconds of footage natively and extend existing videos for up to two minutes to give your scenes room to breathe, while also supporting multiple languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and many more for speech and accents.

With on-screen text and logos staying stable throughout, Kling 4.0 is likely to be a marketing agency’s dream, mocking up walkthroughs of key activations in minutes.

All that power, still uniquely yours

While it’s possible to build a stunningly realised video with a swift prompt, Kling 4.0 is more malleable than its previous models. It achieves this by offering up to 10 keyframes to help plan scenes, and you can upload references in multimodal formats, like an image, audio clip, or another video — up to 15 in total.

All of this makes it possible to drag and drop ideas and create something that reflects your original premise with ease. And because it remains consistent across characters, scenes, style, motion, and audio, you won’t be left nitpicking and trying to correct any aberrations like your lead character swapping faces or voices.

Kling 4.0 could be a huge moment for AI generation models, bringing the technology much closer to what production houses and studios expect for their workflows without diminishing the creative options available.
