5. You What? Continued

Me: What?! You are not supposed to submerge it in any liquid, much less pain thinner!

Customer: Where does it say that?
Me: The instruction manual.
Customer: No, it says that I can't get it wet.
Me: Well you soaked it in paint thinner!
Customer: No, wet means water wet, not paint thinner wet.
Me: Water wet?!
Customer: Yeah, well any way, the product is still under warranty, so go ahead and send me another one.
Me: Well I can certainly arrange for an RMA, and it is really not my place to make a judgment here, but if I were you, I'd save your postage.
Customer: Postage?
Me: Yes, you have to send in your device before they will ship you another one; and if they determine that you have violated the warranty, they will simply send it back to you.
Customer: Awe, they know the difference between water wet and paint thinner.
Me: So you would like to try and send it in?
Customer: Well, what else am I gonna do with it? It's broke!

Following company procedure, I authorized the return and filled out the form with his info. Needless to say, my colleagues over in RMA were not too happy with me."

Conclusions

MobilityGuru and TG Publishing are not immune to reader criticism. Ken used my product packaging column as a platform to ask humorously for better packaging of MobilityGuru itself.

"This was a pretty interesting article. I totally agree with you that product packaging should be more user friendly. What about a user friendly "printer button" in all the TG Publishing articles? I want to print your articles but at times this is impossible because of all the advertisements and pictures. PLEASE, WE WANT A 'Print This article' BUTTON!!!"

What can I say? Life's crazy and, though we often can't laugh when something's happening, we can sometimes enjoy the experience later on. If you've got any funny stories, send 'em to me by clicking my name at the top of this page. I promise to publish more when I get them.
