Seems like everyone announced a product in this category either shortly before or during the show, so somebody thinks these things will sell!

D-Link showed both the DI-804V ($131 street) and DFL-300 ($348 street) Firewall+VPN routers. Neither of these products were announced, but both are on D-Link's website and available. According to D-Link, the DFL-300 has a Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall and will be positioned as a small-office VPN solution, with the DI-804V aimed at the home user.

Checking in with SMC found the previously announced Barricade Plus SMC7004FW (wired, $109 street) and SMC7004WFW (802.11b wireless, $235 street) getting closer to shipment, but still not available. Both will have a built-in VPN endpoint that supports three IPsec and PPTP tunnels. The bigger news was that the long-delayed Barricade PRO (SMC7104W) was on display and should start shipments in June. The product will have a VPN endpoint that supports both IPsec and PPTP tunnels, but will not be available at retailers. Instead, it will instead be sold through SMC's network of resellers and VARs. Pricing is expected to be around $249. Finally, the low end of the line will see the SMC7004VBR added around the end of May. Not a VPN router, the VBR will essentially be the existing SMC7004ABR Barricade, but without the printer and serial ports. List price will be around $79.

Multitech didn't have any additions to their VPN router line, but they announced upgraded capabilities for their RouteFinder VPN, including URL filtering and Dynamic DNS support.

Linksys had another variation to add to the heap o' products in this category. Although the unannounced BEFSX41's main focus is on its SPI firewall features, its built-in endpoint will support two IPsec tunnels. No pricing or availability was given.

I also spent some time with Celestix, whose partnership with Checkpoint Software seems to be humming along. Celestix has a number of VPN related products that incorporate various Checkpoint products into them. [related story].

Last but not least, I happened to meet NETGEAR's Director of Marketing (NETGEAR did not have a booth at the show), who told me about their new 8 port VPN router (FVS318) [
