3. Marvell-ous Discoveries

I stopped by Marvell's stand to see if I could see their LiveAP low-power access point in action and got a little more than I expected. I did get sort of a demo of a dead LiveAP board, which is in the form of an approximately 4 in sq. PCI board. I also got to see their tiny "5-in-1" wireless AP/bridge/router reference design board, which will soon enable cigarette-pack sized 11g APs and routers similar to ASUS' 802.11b WL330.

What was just as interesting was that in one of the cases displaying their customers' products, I spied the mythical Marvell-powered Linksys WRK54G Wireless-G router. You can actually buy this in the form of a WKPC54G Wireless-G Networking Kit from Fry's / Outpost.com, and it is on Linksys' website in stealth mode. The kit bundles the WRK54G with an 11g card that I was told is neither Broadcom nor Marvell based.

Marvell was also displaying NETGEAR's MP101 Digital Music Player and WGR614 11g router along with D-Link's DI-524 11g router in their customer product gallery. Seems like Marvell is getting more traction than I thought in displacing Broadcom and Conexant (PRISM)in consumer 11g products.
