16. 3DMark05 Benchmarks
The X1's 3DMark05 score (202) and frames per second rates (1 frame per second and less) were so low that they aren't worth publishing. This is typical of mobile computers in this CPU power range.
Screen Brightness, Contrast And Uniformity
Measures of screen brightness, contrast and uniformity of brightness for the Dell Latitude X1 and the five other comparable computers we have tested are shown below. None of these tests were performed for the Averatec.

Dell Latitude X1 spatial uniformity of brightness plot.
Screen Brightness, Contrast And Uniformity Conclusions
The Dell Latitude X1's screen brightness is not bad at 119. Brightness is significantly lower than the Sony VAIO's 149 and the Fujitsu P1510D's 144 and a fair amount higher than the Fujitsu B6110D's 99 and the Toshiba Protégé R200's 94. The X1's contrast ratio is decent at 98, though far below the Sony VAIO's 338 and just barely competitive with the Fujitsu B6110D's 120.
Based on both standard deviation scores for 64 brightness measures taken across its display and a plot of these measures, the Dell Latitude X1 exhibits somewhat uneven spatial uniformity of brightness. Examining the plot it is clear that the X1's display brightness tends to fall off on the left and right edges of the screen, important when the laptop is running is wide screen mode.
Subjectively and with the test results reported above in mind, we feel that the X1 delivers a sharp, reasonably bright picture with enough contrast for all but the brightest indoor environments.
