In addition to the processors, the two test candidates differ above all in terms of the chipsets and graphic solutions used.

In the Lifebook S2010, Fujitsu uses ATI's Radeon IGP320M as a Northbridge; Ali provides the Southbridge; and the WLAN 802.11b solution is from Intersil.

The Lifebook S6120 is a Centrino machine and brings its combination of Pentium-M, the 855GM chipset and Intel's PRO/ WLAN 2100 802.11b..

Both systems work with integrated graphics solutions without dedicated video memory. These are also referred to as UMA (Unified Memory Architecture) graphics solutions, as a part of the system RAM is used as video memory.

Whereas with the S2010 the user can determine the size of the video memory himself in the BIOS (from a choice of 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB or 128 MB), the Intel chipset in the S6120 operates with Dynamic Video Memory Technology (DVMT). DVMT is an expanded UMA scheme in which the graphics driver reacts to system and application requirements according to the need for video memory and adjusts dynamically and automatically to current needs. This should guarantee optimum balance between graphics and system performance. How much system memory can be allocated as video memory also depends on the total size of the system memory.

Below 255 MB, an allocation of up to 32 MB of video memory is possible; starting with a system memory of more than 256 MB, the need for video memory can "grow" to reach 64 MB.

Unlike the US model, the Lifebook S6120, the model for the European market (from Fujitsu Siemens computers), is equipped with a 1.6-GHZ model instead of the 1.4 GHz Pentium-M, and also has a Bluetooth module.
