7. The Vaio Z Gets the Nod
This first look at the new Sony Vaio Z and TT models is enough to make a call on which is the better buy.
Vaio Z in the Lead
Without hesitation, from what we’ve seen of it, the Vaio Z is without a doubt the better of the two on all points. Small — but not too small — light, flexible and powerful: all these qualifiers apply to the Z. At under $2,300, it’s definitely the one to choose if you seek a reliable mobile solution. Next to it, the TT comes off looking like a netbook with a Vaio logo. In the mobility department, it’s just about faultless, except for its weight. Its battery life is remarkable. But with its underpowered CPU, GMA graphics and less-than-perfect finish, the TT doesn’t look like the right choice in late 2008. Tests of the commercial versions may confirm or revise these initial impressions.

Small correction: The Vaio Z has a 13.1" screen, not a 13.3".
Just to clear a little confusion on my side, can the laptops with their (relatively) weak graphics chips play Blu-Ray DVDs effectively ? I understood that even some desktop cards stutter under full 1080p playback. Perhaps someone could enlighten me.
lol i still don't understand why people would shell out so much money for a laptop. for $2300 i could get a desktop:
core i7
2 radeon 4870x2s
X58 mobo
6 gigs ram
for $2300 i can buy a really big Mac
