Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are in stock in Australia: Here's where to get the new console and accessories
These Aussie retailers are offering the upcoming console

LIVE: Latest Updates
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders have been officially live since early April, with the much-anticipated successor set to release on June 5, 2025. The standalone Nintendo Switch 2 console is available for AU$699, while the Mario Kart World bundle is priced at AU$769.95.
Initially, the Switch 2 will only launch in a black colourway with 256GB of internal storage. And, in a big change from the original machine, expandable storage will be supported through microSD Express cards – not standard microSD cards.
Along with details about the new console, the latest Nintendo Direct event showcased a ton of exciting new games, including first-party standouts like Donkey Kong Bananza and Kirby Air Riders. FromSoftware's Elden Ring will also release on Switch 2, along with a new title from the developer called The Duskbloods.
Additionally, Nintendo revealed that GameCube games like The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and F-Zero GX would be coming to Nintendo Switch Online for the Switch 2, along with a new wireless GameCube controller — ideal for when Super Smash Bros. Melee eventually lands on the service.
Given the high levels of anticipation surrounding its release, we'd suggest pre-ordering the Nintendo Switch 2 at your earliest convenience despite plenty of stock in Australia.
Nintendo Switch 2: Australian retailers
Right now, you can pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 from JB Hi-Fi, EB Games, Big W, Officeworks, Kogan, Target and The Gamesmen in Australia.
Each retailer is accepting pre-orders for the standalone Switch 2 console and the Mario Kart World bundle. They are also offering pre-orders for a selection of games and accessories.

It's worth noting that JB Hi-Fi takes payment for the console upfront, whether that be paid in one lump sum, or in 4 instalments via Afterpay or PayPal in 4.
While they weren't initially listing the Nintendo Switch 2 for pre-order, you can now buy both the Nintendo Switch 2 and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle from TGG for AU$699 and AU$769. Amazon Prime members may want to wait for their Nintendo Switch pre-orders to go live due to the retailer's fast delivery and lower-than-usual prices. That said, Amazon doesn't typically open pre-orders at the same time as more specialised retailers, so we would advise you to check other options first. Pre-orders are still not live on Amazon as of May 16 – but there are Switch 2 games available.

Big W
Switch 2 pre-orders kicked off today at 10am at Big W, with just one console allowed per customer. Both the standalone console and the Mario Kart World bundle are up for pre-order, priced at AU$699 and AU$769, respectively.

One of Switch 2's new features is GameChat. To get the most out of this new addition, you'll need a Nintendo Switch 2 Camera to video chat while playing with your friends online.
Additional retailers: The Gamesmen
The official Nintendo Switch 2 Camera is pretty dull, but this licensed third-party one is modelled after the iconic Piranha Plant from the Super Mario series and offers all the same features. There's one caveat, though: its resolution maxes out at 480p, whereas the Nintendo camera is 1080p.
Additional retailers: The Gamesmen
You don't need the Switch Joy-Con 2 Wheel to enjoy games like Mario Kart World, but it'll sure make the experience much more enjoyable with realistic controls.
Additional retailers: The Gamesmen
It's not the most exciting Switch 2 accessory, but should you need a spare AC adapter for your Switch, you can get one for this reasonable price and it connects directly to the dock.
Additional retailers: The Gamesmen
Take your Switch 2 on the road with the official Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Switch 2): AU$99 at JB Hi-Fi
One can't be mentioned without the other, as Tears of the Kingdom is perhaps the better game, even if it wasn't quite as breathtaking as BOTW. If you're yet to experience it, waiting for it to appear on the Switch 2 might have been an excellent play.
Hogwarts Legacy: AU$89 at JB Hi-Fi
The fact that the Nintendo Switch has upped its performance power – letting you play games like Hogwarts Legacy anywhere and anyhow you like — is one of its greatest drawcards. This game is a must-play for any Harry Potter fan – but also any fan of action RPGs.

The ever-adorable Kirby gets a bump from 30fps to 60fps, and you can enjoy 1080p gameplay in handheld mode or 1440p when docked.
Split Fiction: AU$64 at Amazon
We called Split Fiction "one of the most creative, inventive and downright delightful action-adventure games" in our review. The Switch thrives on couch coop, so playing it on the Nintendo Switch 2 might just be the best possible way to do so.
Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition: was AU$119.95 now AU$114 at Amazon
While it launched in a rough state, Cyberpunk is undoubtedly one of the great games of this century, and the ability to play it on the go and on a larger display is incredibly enticing. This Ultimate Edition also includes the Phantom Liberty DLC, which we called "a thrilling new storyline and overhauled gameplay mechanics" and with it "Cyberpunk 2077 has finally achieved its potential".
Will Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders sell out?
Released in 2017, the current Nintendo Switch has so far sold over 150 million units worldwide, making it the third-highest selling console in history behind the Nintendo DS and PlayStation 2.
Given the console's age and the recent surge of Switch 2 leaks, anticipation for a successor is at fever pitch, we expected the Switch 2 to sell out quickly in Australia. However, it seems that for now, stock is readily available — unlike in the US, where customers must keep an eye out for restock alerts.
Nevertheless, pre-ordering a unit from major Australian retailers like JB Hi-Fi, EB Games, and Big W is the best way to secure the eagerly awaited Switch 2 console. We recommend keeping an eye on this page for further information, and also monitoring each retailers' online homepages for stock availability.
What to expect from the Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo has a history of innovation, with each new console release often showcasing a unique feature, such as a new control scheme or display function, that shapes the gameplay of its first-party titles.
However, the company is taking a more conservative approach with its latest console — this is the first time in Nintendo's history that it’s used a numerical sequel naming convention for one of its consoles, signalling that the Switch 2 will be an upgraded version of the original Switch, rather than a dramatic reimagining.
And we’re totally cool with that! The current Switch’s graphical capabilities have been outdated since, well, launch, and we’re very excited about the prospect of a new Nintendo console that doesn’t feel like it’s stuck in the past.
The Switch 2, has a redesigned dock, larger display, magnetic Joy-Con controllers and a black, blue and orange colour scheme. Additionally, the updated Joy-Cons now include an optical sensor for mouse-style controls. In terms of Switch 2's specs, the console has an LCD display that's capable of HDR and 120Hz in handheld mode. In docked mode, the Switch 2 will output at 4K resolution.
