I believe that this is the only thing that all the lobbyist of the stem cell research people were protesting, the scientist said that stem cells are going to be used to cure diseases and whatnot. I guess this can be very usefull for infertile couples. If history has thought has anything is that everything that humans create is flawed, just becasue it is created by humans, it has side effects.

They tell us that killing all these children is definitely worth the many cures it will provide, the lives of (important) people it will save.

Now children are being killed in order to make an advance of our understanding so that someday children could be created.

How is this not selfish? People who are so unwilling to adopt that they support the destruction of (thousands?) of children so that they can support the destruction of dozens of their own children so they can have that one perfect child.

I know jack squat about biology, but since the male has both chromosomes, could a XX chromosome stem cell be synthesized, you know, decades down the road?

Even if you were right, 10-15% at each generation does not mean that after 7-10 years the entire population would be infertile. Where did the original 85-90% go? I wish your parents had been in that 10-15% group.

If stem cells from adults can be transformed into sperm & egg, then technically it is possible for a couple who are both infertile to produce a child as if the child had been produced naturally. In addition, two females (fertile or infertile) can produce a girl child (XX), and two males (fertile or infertile) can produce both a female (XX) and a male (XY) child. A person can also produce a child without a partner. A female can produce a female (not a clone), though there would likely be genetic problems due to lack of alternate genes that take over for faulty dominant genes. A male can produce both a female or male child (again, not a clone) with genetic problems one would expect to see if siblings or cousins were to reproduce.
